FX Royale 400 Performance?

Got some performance data for my new FX Royale 400 with regulator in 0.22 caliber. Looking for help to validate whether it is normal or whatever since I don’t have anything to compare it with. All shots were over a chronograph starting with of 220 bar; gun set on HIGH power initially shooting 16 gr JSB pellets. Velocity started dropping off after 105 shots and 140 bar. Subsequent shot data using HIGH/MEDIUM/LOW power settings is listed below. Accuracy at 25 yds is very good.

High Velocity Low Velocity Average Velocity
16 gr High Power 971 961 965 (105 shots)
16 gr Med Power 728 718 724 (12 shots)
16 gr Low Power 553 545 549 (12 shots)
18 gr High Power 923 917 920 (24 shots)

"ezerhoden14"Those numbers seem good to me. pretty close to what my .22 bobcat does. I think you have a shooter!
Thanks. May sound like a stupid question, but I'm relatively new here. Besides both being FX models, is there a close relationship between the Bobcat and Royale 400 mechanical designs? I was very pleasantly surprised at the shot count being over 100 and the consistent velocities at each power setting. However I didn't know if that was about normal. Same for the velocity values at low/med/hi settings.

"grobe1458"this is my regulated fx400 .22 numbers shooting 18.13 jsb's on high, (I always shoot on high). I got more than 100 shots but this chart ends at 100.
Based on your data and response from ezerhoden, I think my new FX 400 is fairly normal. I will keep mine set on Hi power also most of the time but use Med power when my grand kids are shooting paper and soda cans. They went thru several hundred pellets this past weekend. I have more testing to do with the 18 gr JSB pellets. BTW, your chart is an excellent representation of your FX 400 shot data. Think I will gen up a similar chart. Thanks for the info.

"Todd_Bobcat"My Royale 400 does not like the 18.1s. It prefers the 15.89. Is this normal from the same gun?
First time I've heard this. Everything I've read/heard indicated 18.1 gr is the pellet of choice for the Royale 400 in 0.22 caliber. That's why I went ahead and purchased ten (500 count) tins of 18.1 gr pellets when purchasing my Royale 400 a few weeks ago. However, I have a ton of 15.89 gr from years past and have been shooting them mostly to now. Mine shoots the 15.89 gr fairly well. Weather permitting I'll be doing 18.1 gr testing later this week. It will be interesting to see what experience other FX 400 owners have had.

I have to say the numers are spot on. My royale 400 gets about 80- 120 shots per fill. I shoot everything from, full power to number 1 setting, when I'm hunting bunnies in my back yard.

I don't like the rifle. . . I love the Royale 400, very very much. Mine shoots lights out at 100 yards or more. The gun is a beast.

Now pellets, mine shoots everything from the JSB 18.13 to H&N Baracuda Green @ 12.65 gr

I guess that's why I love that gun so much.

Thanks for confirming the numbers. The more I shoot the gun the more I like it. And, it is unbelievably quiet. Mine shoots the JSB 16 and 18 gr pellets very well. Will have to try some other pellets.

You may want to try JSB 18.1g with 5.53 head size. Mine likes 5.53 better than 5.52
Who sells 5.53 18.1gr JSBs?
AoA, Precision Airguns

"Todd_Bobcat"Thanks for the info guys. I re-tried my 18.1s and low and behold it patterned better today. I guess its just the idiot behind the trigger. :D

Holding 5 pellet groups at 30 yards well inside 1 inch. Some in the same hole.
I've experienced the same sort of thing. Lots of factors in play besides the shooter like wind, consistency on the front and rear gun rests, scope parallax and etc. and etc.
