FX Royale 400 guys

IF they are built like the old ones they SHOULD be RELIABLE. Looks like this one has FX NO LIMITS RINGS rather tall. Eagle Vision rings should work too. Adjustable rings recommended for this gun.

I've had a Royale 400 for a few years and love it. It's the only FX rifle I want to own. FX puts out new stuff at a frenetic pace. Some of their designs are exciting, but they tend to make the consumer the guinea pig in their trials. Obviously a lot of folks enjoy that role. I'm an old fart who appreciates boring reliability. You will not regret buying a Royale 400.

I got the last walnut FX400 AOA had this past spring. The most accurate rifle I own. On a windless day I think it might out shoot my Winchester 52 D to 50 yards. I shot it at 10 meters just to see what it would do. One hole for sure. Knocks them DRT at the diaries I go to in AZ and WA. Probably right about JSB pellets. It shoots every pellet great but with a flyer every now and then with Crosmans. I had AOA install a 580 cc bottle on it. It's the first regulated airgun I have and I get 114 shots before coming off the regulator. Have fun, Scott

Seems to depend on the scope. I was using high rings with a hawke airmax compact, then bought an airmax FFP (AIRMAX 30 FFP SF 6-24x50), and the mag wouldn't clear. Now I'm using sportsmatch extra high rings. Doesn't bother me though, still comfortable to shoot and the gun is fantastic. Scott, any pics of the 580 cc bottle on your 400? That's something I've kicked around.

I had one for a while. Very, very accurate with 18 gr Jsb. All I shot in it. I had to use high rings with the Discovery 4x16x44 scope. Sidelever is typical FX smooth, trigger was great, accuracy was great, and with the carbon bottle it was light. I bought it used with a 500cc aluminum bottle on it but it was too heavy so I bought a 480cc carbon bottle for it.

It was a little louder than I liked so I made a workimg shroud for it that helped a lot to quiet it down. Sold it to fund other airguns as always.

I owned a couple in the past years. One thing is the magazine setup was hit and miss which effected accuracy. My last one was the quietest rifle I ever owned with a Hugget pickle. It was a one holer most of time but was very picky on the way you held it. Very sensitive.

I would say both of these situations are anomalies with the Royale. It is the most reliable magazine rifle I have owned. Unless the barrel position is slightly off, which can kill it, but that's a 30 second adjustment. And mine has never been any more sensitive than other PCP rifles of comparable power and weight.

Sorry (but not sorry) but I don't have a 400. I have a 500 (.25) & a Boss (.30). Same platform. Unbelievable guns, so much so that I sold all my others & only own those two. In the words of Centercut to me "It's the best platform FX has ever made. No FX guns are more accurate than these". I've never found either one to be "very sensitive" to different holds & both have been TROUBLE FREE since day one. I assume the 400 would be the same. They won't shoot slugs due to the Original Smooth Twist barrel but it doesn't matter to me. I can routinely make 100 + yard shots with confidence or I should say the guns can if I'm doing my part. Hope you get it, you'll love it!
