Fx royale 400- different model?

I'm planning to buy a new Fx Royale 400 in .22. The thing is the version i'll be buying is the version with the "slot" in the silencer and a aluminum bottle (although i'll buy a carbon fiber bottle). I have been seeing the version that AoA is selling, already comes with the carbon fiber bottle and the silencer without that slot (a different shroud).
The question is: is the model that i'll buy a older version of the royale (and because of that have a less efficient valve system or accuracy) or the only thing that fx change is the silencer because of the aluminum bottle? (The slot allows the aluminum bottle to be screwed out). The gun is new and is the version that comes with the 3-step power adjuster.

Hi,

I have got the same gun, it is the "normal" version. As far as I understood, only the US gets the superlight version, with CF bottle and a slightly different shroud.
Technically, they should be exactly the same. All versions sold in Europe I have come around are fitted with an aluminum bottle and the slotted shroud.
It is definitely not an old version.

kind regards,

Gijs

Haha, what a coincidence, i've bought mine in Sweden as well (R400 and R500 as a holiday souvenir😆)
They are all very light in stock form, I have a laminate stock, which is the heaviest of the 3.
Just a tip, I'd also get the regulator for a lot of consistent shots😉
If you buy it from Tobias (Hurricane) give him my best regards.
A CF bottle is hard to get and expensive, it will save about 200 grams over the 400cc alu bottle.

Cheers,

Gijs

Hahahah i'll buy it from hurricane too! I'll get a regulator and a hi-porwer kit to set the rifle to FAC power because in Sweeden is max 10j.
The thing is the CF bottle will not only make the gun lighter, but will add 80cc to the bottle and make the bottle removable because of the valve incorporated.
They install you the Hp kit or what?
And what do you say about off hand shoting with the laminated version?

I made the parts myself on my lathe, drilled the 1mm (!) inner transfer port of the power adjustment to 4.5mm, drilled open the valve retainer and added an o-ring to seal it, made a hammer weight and installed the SHP valve (Super HighPower)
Stock valve seat is 4mm, the SHP 5.5mm.
My full power R400FT 4.5mm has the small valve and valve seat, no hammer weight, and the closed valve retainer. Apparently, it is not needed to propell the tiny 4.5mm pellets at 24 joules☺

My advice is to buy the "Japan kit", all the parts you need are in it. It is very easy to install.

The Royales are a dream to shoot offhand, very light, and well balanced. Although my 1kg Sightron 10-50 scope makes it quite a bit bulkier😆

You are right about the 480cc's, and another plus is, you can fill it to 250bar vs 232bar on a regulated Royale😉

Regards, Gijs

That's certainly possible☺
When you increase the power on setting 3, setting 2 and 1 will also give higher speeds.

The 3 way poweradjuster is sort of a drum with 3 transfer holes of different sizes, which rotates around a central shaft with a 4.5mm hole.

Setting 3 is fully open ,4.5mm
Setting 2 is around 2.5mm
Setting 1 is around 1-and-a-bit mm

The 10 joule version has a 1mm hole in the central shaft, which means that adjusting the power wheel doesn't have effect on the speed. It is always restricted to 1mm, regardless of the setting.
The Japan kit also contains a new central shaft with the 4.5mm transfer hole.

Nope☺
The FX Impact power adjustment works by changing the HST unlike the Royale.
It's definitely an adjustable transferport in 3 fixed settings. The HST remains the same.
The great air efficiency of FX guns is due to the floating hammer design, which decreases hammer bounce to zero.
Because the power adjuster sits right behind the valve, and the amount of air released by the hammer striking the valve, not all air can pass to the barrel if the TP is restricted. This also means less air is used for a shot.

Stock full power AA's are pretty terrible anyway regarding air usage, just like other designs with a lot of hammer bounce (Daystate Air rangers without slingshot hammer, BSA's, marauders etc. Etc.)
