FX-Ranchero, and a wooden stock - a pair I think! Step two.

So, I have two of these FX Ranchero`s on order. .177 and .22. But I am not a very big synthetic stock fan, and I also would prefer some changes to the stock. (Add some finger grips, extend the fore end, give a slimmer look all over, some chiselling around the back grip- and so on).
I made a sketch, and contacted Steve Corcoran at Woods and Water Outdoors (one of the sponsors here on AGN), and asked something like:

- "Based on this drawing, can you make me two pistol stocks. It has to be good wood, and as a couple they have to come from the same blank so to say".
I got a positive respond right away, and after some e-mailing where I picked the preferred wood, he now can present me the master.
The final results based on the master is yet to come, but in the mean time I would like to share this with you.

By the way. The wood between the two pistol profiles has potential for a knife shaft. I have asked Steve to consider this when cutting, and let me have this piece.
A pair and a knife from the same wood....... I think that will be awesome!

Oh, these are nice! I could see putting a brace of these in my backpack and sneaking up on squirrels.
Dress up as a bird watcher, psych them out!
I think camouflage is overrated- animals seem to know whom to fear. Next deer season, I'm going out dressed in full Berkeley tree hugger, with sandals, tie dye and "Vote Sanders" button... they'll never know what hit them!

FYI guys-I designed several of these pistol stocks and have supplied them to AoA over the years. The one they currently show is an older design that I no longer build. Here is my latest design they stock that I supply them. This particular one is an upgrade that I sold to a local dealer here in Texas. He has it in inventory.

Thanks,

Steve Corcoran

"guod123" Congratulations beautiful chunk of wood, you proved your talent on the Wildcat, why not the pistols?
Thanks Goud, but I'm light years away from the skills you see documented in Steves post above. The wildcat has served me well, and I took the challenge using a local flame birchwood, and just got lucky I think.
But this pistols is a different project. My contribution will be the knife handel(s) made from the same stock. If I can get two handles out of it, I would be very satisfied, but if only one, that will do to......
Something like this maybe:

"Gunnertrones"Absolutely. I will post the final result when all is set and done, including my choice of scopes and so on.
I tried a few different options on my Ranchero. The scopes just weren't for me. I finally settled on the Ultradot Matchdot II. I really like the multi-reticle options.

Looking forward to seeing which direction you go.
