FX producing "Ratsniper" style slugs

Wow a lot of quibbling going on here!!!

Rat sniper wicked hollow points out perform every slug I've ever tested period!!!

You don't like the price buy something else!

Like was said above spend $2000+ on an airgun and complain about $14 for 100 slugs....really?

I just ordered 400...Lol

But seriously I'm not going to stop buying NSA slugs mostly because they're made right here in the United states and the new high speed machine slugs are great and a huge improvement over what he previously offered. I just tested some of the little 17.5 grain .22s yesterday in my Taipan Veteran long at 920 fps and WOW! I was exploding sparrows at 70/80 yards....

To each their own I guess

Piece out James from Michigan

I picked up a box today at UA. 100 slugs for $15. They showed me one that did 4.5 inch penetration into ballistics gel. Incredible expansion!

Best part is that it's designed (at least according to UA) NOT to need a slug liner.

Once the snow lets up, I'll get the Marauder out (my only .22) and give it a try. at $.15 per shot, not cheap, but still, if it allows me to shoot slugs without a slug liner, that's a plus for me.

It'll be a week or two, but I'll give them a shot in a bit.

Whoever thought that one up wasn't thinking very hard. If there had been another gun with the same features and performance for less money I would've purchased it.

I can afford just about anything I want but I'm retired and spend wisely. I live on a total budget of $480 per month.

FX HYBRID, Slugs, their cost and where we are going?,

Below I have cut and pasted a comment and a reply* I received that I put on a "shooter1721" YouTube video , Rick along with other top names in the Air Gun world have made us aware of the benefits of the new FX hybrid slugs, I invite Air Gun Nation folk to give their two cents on the above question.

I add some cost comparisons, not like for like.

crossman premier .177 (walmart) 1250 pellets $20

Remington thunderbolt 22lr (ebay) $163.70 for 5000

you do the math.

* I have removed the replying Gentlemans name as I believe this is the right thing to do.

"Here is some data. 15 cents per slug, not so bad (for slugs), but kinda pushing out the idea that Air gun Ammo is SO much cheaper than power burner ( in 22lr at least), remembering cost of ammo is/was? one of the reasons people state for choosing Air Gunning. just a thought".

Highlighted reply

"Henry Moreland I just ordered a pack. With $7.99 shipping they round out @ .23 scents a round. Kinda stout, especially if they don't group well from my rifle. But still, we only go round in life once, so ... . If they don't pan out maybe I can sell the remainder... LoL!"

I make slugs at home, my costs are between € 1 and € 1.5, for 200 slug.

Where does all these new slugs coming along leave neilson slugs now , perhaps he should of got into bed with one of the big pellet makers , FX or shipped his slugs worldwide at a good price

It's a small family run business and he already works 7 days per week. I'll continue to buy his ammo because he was the first to invest in high speed machines to lower cost. He's still the lowest cost supplier that I've seen.

What seems so odd to me is that I rarely saw rat sniper come up on the forums, now that it’s fx slugs it’s going to be all the rage. I honestly think it was a smart move for him, I hope they simplify the packaging and lower prices some, then they will be a true competitor to nsa, H&N and jsb(if the ever come out). Me personally I like intensity22s idea, I’ll get a sample pack of nsa and if my gun don’t like them I will try some fx.

May be they are in the US but not in uk or Europe or for that matter anywhere in the world . This is where H&N , JSB and now FX will take over , even in the states I think

Whats strange is FX designed their new slug liners around NSA slugs, now they release slugs these and they don’t need a liner.

I’m sure these new slugs are geared towards non-fx choked barrels.

As for the cost of the slugs, they are optional. No one is forced to pay for slugs, it's a choice we all make. We still have the much more economical pellets as the mainstay of the airgun industry. Utah Airguns just put up a video, where Justin makes exactly the same point. There is a use for pellets, and there's a use for slugs. Not necessarily much overlap in the areas.

Pellets expend their energy rapidly I checked my ballistics tables and a pellet loses nearly half its energy in 100 yards, where slugs from the same gun loses about one quarter of its energy in 100 yards. Much greater range, so safe places to shoot pellets may not be so safe for slugs.

Slugs are just another way to have fun, not mandatory in any way.

I doubt the FX Ratsniper will ship to Europe due to the cost of being made in the USA but we'll have to wait and see.

They are being shipped to Europe and we should have in the uk very soon . FX ship world wide you know , not just America

Well, I just paid $14.99 US for 100 slugs. So, at today's exchange rate of $1.29 to £1.00, you should see retail of around £11.60, excluding import taxes and duty. The box I purchased says, Made in USA, so unless FX has a EU manufacturing plant, there will be import duties. Maybe JSB will make a European version so FX can keep the costs and import duties down?
