I tighten them like most other rings..aluminum rings 10-15, steel rings 15-20 inch pounds. 30-40 inch pounds on the bases. I ruined a Vortex scope tube by over tightening the rings and VORTEX warrantied the scope but shared this info with me. I bought a wheeler scope lapping kit that had a torque tool in it and torque all my rings and bases now with no issues. Hope that helps..they don't need to be gorilla tight.
