Fx no limit mounts questions thoughts

Ok so I will try to be as specific as I can
my question is are no limit rings nessicary their goin on wildcat so obviously a lot of numbers specs missing however I always sight in at 50-70 yards and using hold over can userrally Max out the guns limitations I use normally hawk SW more specific the tactical line all of them are 16x I never use more than 12x sight it around there too so I've never found it a nessecity are these for distances greater than 150 yards? Am I sighting in too far I've always found it easier to hold under at close distance on the fly and still use holdover at longer distances I realize some guns have droop rails but do u think it will be so on the Wildcat ? I am a hunter not a bench shooter and most shots are gona be around 70 yards public land the critters are scittish so if once in blue moon I c squirl 25 yards I hold under is this not A too common practice thoughts please sorry I know more info on the rifle would help as u know we all waiting no one knows if the wild cat rail will be droop the fps none of that ? I ordered the vortex diamondback 4x12x40

PH, I think I under stand what your saying, is the No Limit rings necessary for taking longer shots when you are sighted in at 50 or so yards. My answer would be. It all depends on you scope. And how far you actually want to take shots. However, I learned for me.......the way I deal with long distance on my airguns....is...when I sight my my air gun for 50. Which is where I always do. I always put the POI on the third hash mark. Not on the actual middle of the scope. This gives me more distance on my scopes with out the need for droop or no limit rings. Hope that makes some sense to you. Best and let me know if I can help any further ok, Steve

Steve has it right. Adding MOA to your scope will not effect your reticle. The reticle is set depending on where you zero your scope. There is no set zero, it can be whatever you want it to be. If you want more holdover zero the scope at 75 yards or 100. You can do what Steve does or you could use a ballistic app that will give you multiple zeros that will increase your holdover potential. Using the 3rd mil or hash mark zero eliminates the use of the variable power option on your scope unless you are using a FFP. That is the downside to using Steve's system. I prefer to set my zero at the crosshairs, then choose a reticle that has around 160 yards of holdover and not worry about it.

Speaking in real world terms holdover with an airgun past 160 yards is not really the best system. I believe at that range you are better off using the turret. That is where the FX no limit rings come in handy. The FXNL will allow you to bottom out your turret then get a very close zero by canting the scope. Then you can fine tune the zero with the turret. Most good scopes will give you around 60 MOA of adjustment. That is often 30MOA up and 30 down (or somewhere close) With the FXNL you could get 50 MOA up turret adjustment which could push some calibers out past 250 yards of dope.

Thanks Steve that's exactly what I meant I sight in so far cause I know I'll never get a shot at a coyote less than 75 yards they know what's up its open season on them year around so never seen the need for fxnl mounts the closest I'll sight a rifle in is 50 yards so wasn't sure may try using 3rd hash mark up never thought of that gives u more hold over
