Wow, this one came from left field. Comparing the Maverick to the Impact, can anyone tell me why they would even want to buy an Impact now that these things are out? They seem to be very similar, yet Maverick costs a few hundred less, and the specs on both guns seem to to tilt towards the Maverick in terms of overall performance? Is there something I am not seeing, or did FX just cannibalize their own Impact platform? Can someone help shed some more light into this, as to what now makes the Impact platform worth the premium?

Think maverick will take some customers from both wildcat and impact. BUT impact still has more fine tuning capabilities and other features, I see it as their top tier gun for the tinkerers. BUT for people who wants a powerful gun that really works and simpler than impact the maverick will absolutely decimate other brands in the price range IMHO.....if they can make enough of them. Basically it’s a wildcat in impact chassis so it should be a lot faster to make but no one has wildcat in stock either. LOL

Makes sense, and I get where you're you're coming from. For a new person coming into the airgun world, the maverick looks to be really tough to beat, considering it's price point. It looks really tempting, but I have both a wildcat and impact so, I guess the maverick doesn't really make sense for my tool kit. Or maybe I'm just feeling a little bit of buyers remorse in getting the impact earlier this year, when the maverick to me looks way better! :( Wish I'd known about the maverick's development sooner...

With the compact version I think you would regret the wildcat more than the impact......but that depends on your usage case and if you like to tinker. I came really close to ordering a wildcat mk3 compact and soooooo happy I didn’t! I wished wildcat would of came in a chassis form and a bottle and I’ll add a bigger plenum.......then BAM! The maverick showed up! The maverick compact is going to kick some serious behind! My impact will keep the 700mm .25 barrel on and stay more of a target long range gun while the compact maveric should be a great carrying gun. OMG I can’t wait! This is the most exciting thing I’ve ever bought on Black Friday and I didn’t even get a penny off on it. Hahahaha

edit: for most people this gun is the ultimate do it all gun. You don’t need either wildcat nor impact if you want to one gun that does it all. This gun is going to be a game changer, only wish the safety is right above the trigger like the impact but can’t have it all.

I hear you, and understand your perspective. To me however, the wildcat is a core part of my stable because it's not a bottle gun, and it's extremely light and maneuverable; although I obviously haven't compared it to how the maverick handles. To me, it makes a huge difference when lugging around an impact vs wildcat, as the impact is just squishy to me... not field friendly at all IMO. An advantage I'm seeing now for the impact vs maverick is the magazine capacity, but I think you are right with the fact that for most people, this gun here is a one gun does it all gun, which'll most likely sell like hot cakes.

As for my impact, it's still designated as my long range gun, but value-wise I'm just not seeing how the impact can really compete against the maverick for most people. Until they release the MK3 perhaps... I guess the better question is, if one were to redo their purchases, would one opt for the impact or maverick?

I totally see what you are saying and that’s why I said it all depends on the use case. For me I really don’t go in the field much and when I do I use a single point sling on the impact and it doesn’t seem that bad even after walking for quite a few miles. It is like you said a little heavy so hopefully the compact will solve that along with a lighter compact hunting scope.

as far as maverick vs impact I still think impact can easily add the second regulator with the bottle adapter like the maverick and probably has bigger valve with MK3 but it already has way more power than I need. Therefore in practice there is huge overlap between maverick and impact that’s why I ordered a compact maverick. Had this come out when I bought the Impact there is not doubt I would of bought the maverick, however I’ve grown really fond of my impact and not gonna sell it anytime soon.

Honestly my real use case for the impact, Maverick and my Dreamline has been adult legos. 😂

Good posts qball, Odoyle.

I don't think my impact or wildcat are going anywhere either. All of them are really good guns IMO. Perhaps the maverick will land in possession in the future, but in reading other posts, it may also make sense to hold off for their next gen impact or new gun launch in anticipation it might be a hammerless design. Considering we've had hammerless designs on the market for a little bit now, we have to assume that fx is ahead of their game in developing one.

@Odolye - Would love to see what you come up with for the impact trigger. It's not the worst trigger to me (I actually don't mind it), but it certainly is much stiffer than the WC3 trigger. I left my triggers factory tuned too.
