FX mounts

"travels4fun"I use the FX No Limits on all my rifles. Last week, My Air Wolf fell out of it's soft case as I was walking over rocks in the desert near my house.. The rifle landed scope down which and left gouges in the metal. Even after a hit like I encountered, the mounts maintained their position with no change to zero. I was very impressed.
i love rigs that can take a beating!

"travels4fun"Yeah but it sucked because my rifle was in pristine condition before the fall. Now there are scuffs and scrapes on the stock and tip of the Huggett. Oh well, c'est la vie.
That is terrible to hear, on such a fine rifle too! Sometimes i can enjoy a little scratch here and there though. Its allways the first that hurts most. I hope you can get it sorted and good that your fx mounts kept poi.

It depends on the application. I would never use the FX rings on a Spring gun. The way they rotate around a mounting point would put the structural stresses through the Scopes Tubing. For a Recoiless or nearly recoiless gun that wouldn't be a problem but a Spring gun needs a One piece mount and the load paths cannot go to the scopes tubing. Scopes were never meant to add structural integrity to the mounting arrangement but split rings on springers stress scope tubes, especially high mounts with large heavy glass.
