FX MAVERICK COMPACT OR KALIBRGUN CRICKET COMPACT, THAT´S THE QUESTION

Both are good. No experience with The FX. Charlie tuned my cricket compact .22 . This crow @ 107 yds. Tried for head shot. Jsb 18 1. @ 880.

Kalibrgun Cricket 2 Tactical compact also known as the 45 version of Cricket 2 tactical will be a good consideration because of the shot count with the bottle and accuracy is laser like.

Reviewers of the KalibrGun Kricket 2 Tact have seen some amazing groups from 75 to 100 yards with pellets. Considering also you plan to shoot 22 cal, I've seen couple members here shoot 18 grn jsb and they simply backed the externally adjustable hammerspring tension adjuster almost all the way out to achieve 1 inch group at 100 yards. I'm assuming velocity was 880-890 fps.

Seems like awesome compact setups!

Have mav compact 25. And cricket standard. Crick is heavier, dont know about compact Cricket weight. . Cricket is Basically indestructible. Both guns can shoot pellet tins @ 150 yds. Yep, that's right. It's not what the Mav is made for. Cricket loves it. Slugs and pellets no problem. 100 yds eye dotter.

Don't know what your wanting to do. If your targeting 100 and in, I'd shop for less expensive

Shooting 100 and out in 22, I would think you'll want the sniper variant FX. COMPACT 22 CRICKET, I DONT KNOW.

Shoot on !

I had a Wildcat MkIII for a bit and found the trigger to be very underwhelming - overly simplified which limited most any adjustment. I believe the Maverick uses the same trigger system. Cricket 2 Compact I found trigger to be much pleasing.

Also - don't discount the H&N pellets with the Cricket lineup. When I had my Cricket 2 Compact I set it up for the H&N 21gr Barracuda Match @ around 880 fps. I don't have any targets set out past 50 yards so I picked a tree out around 80 yards and starting plinking at a knot in the trunk. Results were impressive - I usually don't get to shoot past 50 so the consistency at 80 made me smile.

If it were me making this decision I would def go the Cricket 2 Tact 45 model.

I'm interested in the Kalibrgun as well but would like to see everyone's thought on this compared to the prophet performance compact compared to the uragan compact...………….sorry, don't mean to hijack op's thread but I feel these are in the same group(pun intended). The prophet seems easy to tune or at least easy to get to the tuning pieces without having to disassemble. Uragan seems like a set and forget but harder to access tuning and have to disassemble. Is the Kalibr ambidextrous cocking lever? In .22 thse all seem capable of the 100 yard shot and they're all around the same 1800 dollar price point. Not sure what shot count is compared to each other or availability. I think Charlie at Georgia may have the Uragan and Kalibr but the only Prophet I see was at AOA if I remember correctly.

Many thanks everybody for your comments.

Calbarry I have not considered another options because these are the guns that I like it.

I have had a Cricket .22, previous versión, and I was very pleased but I like the cricket II tactical version WTC 45 because the air bottle and the lateral action/air gauge, inexpensive magazines

I have actually a FX impact II .25 upgraded to power plenum and FX dreamline compact .22 upgraded to power plenum/cf air bottle/thinner shroud. Both are good guns but I think that both was released "temporary" because few months later of buy them both was upgraded, and I had to pay the upgrade. For the Impact I had to buy the plenum and for the Dreamline the plenum, carbon fibre bottle and barrel with thinner shroud, and obviously the folding stock.

This upgrades could be seen like a advantage -upgradable- but I think with so expensive guns should be included with the final market release of the gun.

By cons kalibrguns can not upgraded generally -I have seen power plenum upgrades in the previous versions but innecesary- but I think these are great guns out of the box.

I lean more to buy the cricket II WTC 45 but I doubt if the 450 mm barrel would be enough to shoot to 100 yds or only would be gun for 50yds.

I know that longer barrel means more precision in longe range, but I like the short barrel so I only contemplate buying the short version or cricket WTC or FX Maverick compact.

The problem with cricket, its heavier than maverick (3,4 kilos cricket/2,9 kilos maverick).

Don't believe that for a bit. Longer barrel doesn't mean more precision. It's a power thing more than anything when it comes to airguns. You can shoot heavier projectiles that can help in wind better that can help with long range precision but barrel length alone definitely doesn't mean better accuracy.

All that to say don't be afraid of the shorter barrels. I prefer them in my guns and have zero issue with long range accuracy. Pest regularly past 70yds with my Taipan Veteran Shorty with 350mm barrel. No lack of accuracy.

I bought the Maverick specifically for squirrel hunting in East TN. It is light and I have never had a single problem out of an FX gun and I have them for over 19 years. (FX2000 22cal, FX Cyclone 22cal, FX Roayle 400 .177cal and Maverick Compact 22cal).

Here is a pic of the difference in size between a Taipan Veteran Long and the Maverick Compact. I also have shot a Cricket 25cal and they are similar in weight to the Taipans. Plus the Cricket II in 22cal with the 17inch barrel is going to max out at 40 foot pounds. The Maverick can do 55 foot pounds with a 500mm barrel, plus they are supposed to be coming out with a 300cc/300bar carbon fiber tank in the future. Personally I like them both. lol

I have a Maverick, not a compact, the VP, it's my first FX and I have to say the gun is amazing. I was looking into the Cricket too because my previous experience with the Taipan and I've the opportunity to use the Crickets and as everyone says, they are solid, only bad thing I remember was reloading that magazine.... wish they had the Taipan mechanism, but anyways.

To me the FX is giving me some possibilities I don't have with the Cricket, and let me clarify, I'm not FX fan boy, but you asked and this is what I like about the Maverick

- The power wheel is awesome to have, because I can tune for different ammo and come back to the setting in no time, I never had this before on any other rifle. I have a setting for pellet and slug that I just turn the dial and I'm shooting without even rezero the scope, (turrets tape for both)

- Adjust regulator pressure easily (In case I want to play with any other ammo)

- I can build a compact out of my gun and move back and forth very easily (I'm not talking about changing calibers, but that's another possibility)

Last point was very important to me, because I already have the RTI Priest, and the VP I currently have seems like the same gun in the sense that they are same length, but when I was hunting with Jessica and we were shooting from the car I realized how convenient would have been to have the RTI and a compact, for those shots from the car, so I'm going to make a compact out of my Maverick and I don't really have to buy another gun, I can just buy the kit.

This is what I've found so far, and I'm very pleased with the gun. I haven't had any issue with it...

Hope this helps

I have both, both in .22 .

My pick would be the Maverick Compact. Many reasons.

Both good guns, it seems that I much more often than not, pick up the Maverick to shoot rather than the Cricket II.

And yeah, FX or not, I've had ZERO problems with my Maverick in almost a year. A little tuning, changed the grip to a more vertical design, removed the side picatinny rails...
