Tuning FX Maverick 22 sniper tune and adjustments

Hi all Well I got s 22 Maverick sniper here recently , I went out with 25 gr pellets and a few slugs it shot quite well with redesignes and other slugs , I nopticed the reg gage was reading like 110 bar and HST was at 4 , and it was shooting around 50s fpe.

I then brought many hevier slugs along with 18 gr pellets and lighter slugs , to tune down and up to see what else shoots well , I then turned the hst , it made only like 20fps difference , I removed hammer all looked normal , turning the adj sccrew with the 1.5mmhead made little difference on the power wheel ,

I then said ok well I first replaced both fx gages with New wiccas so I got accurate readings ,

I had waited till all my spare orings and spare regulators come in before I attempted to play with the reg adjustments , I have heard many had issues with leaks and or problems , setting them ,

So once parts in stock , I removed bottle emptied gun , then opened up secondary regulator and I turned in the primary regulator then reinstalled bottle , I set it up like this first

185 bar primary , 150 secondary , then I dry fired a dozen times and refilled gun and shot a over chrono while adjusting hst screw so #1 was like 838 with 25 gr and 7 is like 995 fps , , yay ,it works now , I will re shoot over weekend and see if it is as accurate as it was and also es is good ,

SO am I correct in my theory that , the hammer must of been too heavy at 110 bar meaning valve opened maximum even with little hst , cause low resistant due to lower reg pressure , but raising it 40 bar more now it need more striking force to open fully ?

I am sure this would be same with most fx guns with this type of regulators , I havent had a new FX gun since 2016

did anyone else notice this ? and yes I know I can also reduce power by swapping out regulator with plenum , I just wanted some adjustability ,

what pressures do you guys run in 22 cal and what fpe you running ?

last question will a fx impact barrel fit on the maverick ?

You have made the same mistake many others have made jumping to 150 bar. Turn your 1st reg to 140-150 turn second reg to 100. Adjust hammer spring till it wont cock ( turning ccw) then turn 1/4-1/2 turn cw till it will cock and make sure the safty works then set pw to 7 and turn 2nd reg up 2.5 bar and shoot over crono till you reach a drop in fps. You are maxed to go more you must add parts a dual port after i did this only added 10 fps. Im shooting 25.4 fx pellets to 950 second reg at 110 sd1

oh a impact has a different shroud

this is where it was when I got it , hmm ok well i will check groups here and compare to where it was , I mean is was accurate but it had no adjustment with the power wheel like it does now , I really thought this was because reg was too low for hammer weight and or spring combo , But like I said I been working alot with my edguns and taipans and others , So I am getting back into the FX now , SO you saying it was better at 140-110 then then 180-150 bar, this is only 2nd time I shot this gun , and it was used , but it shot very well as I said under 1 moa with a few slugs , I wanted to try lower power , and it wouldnt lower no matter what I did until I re adjusted regs then readjusted the hst screw so the wheel worked correctly

so far mine shot best with 36,2 gr and mp 36 gr , Pellets I feel were flying a bit hot

Mine does have a 2 sided transfer port I will try small hole over weekend to see what it does

OK soti so you saying leave hammer maxed and drop fps by reducing secondary reg not hst ????

Without knowing what speed/power level you want to shoot specifically, it is hard to give you definite recommendations. Do you know which hammer weight is in the gun? Solo1 could be correct, OR your gun may be happier with the second reg at 130 bar. It just hard to say without knowing the goals :) Solo1 is definitely correct on how to find out what the max speed you can get is with your current hammer weight/spring setup though.

My .22 Sniper came with the light hammer weight and the second regulator set at 120 bar was to high. I machined a solid one and also replaced the second gage with a Huma.. Hammer spring is one and a half turns in from max and regs set at 150/120 and shooting the NSA 20.3 on #4 at 975fps,#7 was way to hot. IMHO you need to see what hammer weight you have. Does your gun have the 20moa scope rail?

my .22 maverick I got here was set up for hi power slugs ,, and would not lower fpe to shoot lighter pellets or slugs . actually only I was able to detune it was to spin my barrel 180 degrees it has a duel hold in the brass transfer port , I am pretty sure it is a huma ,

SO my weight must be the 30 cal as it has slug kit installed , this was first FX I bought since 2016 so I kind of fell behind their tuneing platforms and was using other brands , I do like the maverick , Mine is the Sniper 700mm with alot of upgrades , I did just order a 500mm barrel and a 300mm bottle SO I can try it as a shortie
