FX M3 Probe carrier

Up grading the factory probe carrier to a Kraford Lypt Ultra probe carrier I found out that my M3 came with only one roll pin installed, however, both, probe carriers have 2 holes for 2 pins; also the aluminum bar where you screw the probe carrier also has 2 holes. Does anyone acquainted with M3's know if these new versions come with only one roll pin ?

If you line up the probe properly before you lock it in place, I would say that one pin is the better method.

The holes in the probe block and the B33 sliding probe guide aren't exactly super tight tolerance press fits or match drilled and reamed such that they lock the probe block rotationally and don't allow any adjustment. There's enough slop in the pin fits there is still wiggle room to dial in the probe to breech alignment even with 2 pins installed before tightening down the screw.

FX may be assembling the guns with only 1 dowel pin, but their schematics show 2. Lol!

I agree the single dowel pin plus the flathead screw is enough to retain the probe block, but having both dowels installed would help minimize movement if the flathead screw ever gets a little loose.

Not to revive a dead thread however, I just installed the k&L probe carrier and to my surprise found only one pin as well. I remember in ER’s video he specifically mentions having both pins. Maybe they were having alignment issues at the factory with both pins or deemed that two was unnecessary. Regardless, I ordered a bag of pins through McMaster-Carr and added the second. They sell them in quantities of 50, if someone needs a couple I can send ya a few for the cost of the stamp.
