FX Independence thoughts from the folks that own them or have used them?

Hey there,
i have posted that I am getting back into the airgun game after a stint of down time.
I Have a Trail XL 1100 and like it a lot but just have this burning itch to get a PCP ...as funds are tight I was tossing around the idea of the Disco Kit as the gun and charging unit were all in the kit and my budget ....but then I got to thinking about if this was just a stepping stone and, knowing myself how long would it be before I was looking to upgrade my kit .....so after a lot of thinking about want vs need I think that I am really liking the sounds of the FX Independence for a lot of reasons I am going to list my reasoning in order of importance to me and please feel free to chime in with your thoughts and suggestions!
1) accurate
2) reliable
3) price
4) ability to charge at home and in the field, and without a dive shop near by
5) powerful
6) quiet
from what I have read this gun really does check off all my boxes and needs very well
oh ps I plan on the .22 cal as pellets for the 25 are an order only thing for me in my area and I can get great selection of .22 locally

ok let er rip!
and as always thanks so much for your time and expertise
Jonathan

I own a .22 FX Independence which I purchased new in early May of 2014. To date I have shot over 24,000 rounds through the rifle with well over half of the rounds shot by using the built in pump. Answers to your questions:

1. Unbelievably accurate! Silly accurate!! Incredibly accurate!!!
2. Clean and lube the trigger assembly now and then, replace the breech o-ring and other small items. But all pump related parts in the rifle are original and (knock on wood) no problems thus far.
3. Not sure what you are looking for here, but yes the rifle is somewhat expensive.
4. The pressure chamber of the rifle is only 22 cc's, of which the built in pump easily fills or a floor pump takes care of.
5 Close to 30 ft-lbs on high power.
6 The quietest air rifle I have ever shot or heard shoot.

Yes, I like it!

SPC-Racing, thanks so much for the feedback!
The O- ring for the breech and the other small items you mentioned ..were/are they hard to find parts?
only other questions I can think of are these-
-Do you find it true as said that it shoots most pellets well,as i can get cp hp's within minutes from my home.
-What did you find yours shoots the best pellet wise?
-when you mention 30 ft-lbs at(high power) is this adjustable as a setting on the gun as a high low power setting or just in the way you fill or what pressure you run the gun at?

thanks again for your time!

Get the bullpup version, compact gun will be easy to carry. Overall unique, and interesting gun to own. As for it being quiet, that depends how one rates it. I think it needs an ldc. I wish FX used baffles in their shrouds.

smooth twist barrels like jsb pellets, that is what you most likely be shooting. FX Royal platform guns are pretty reliable rifles, just don't dry fire them without air in the gun.

I think you will be happy if you get a bullpup.

Jonathan - The breech o-ring may be available at your local hardware store or if not then on ebay and definitely at Airguns of Arizona. To date Airguns of Arizona has had every small miscellaneous item I've needed.

Both my .22 FX Independence and .22 FX Royale shoot most pellets very well. About the only pellet type either rifle do not like are wadcutters. But if I had to nitpick, listing most accurate to less accurate in my Independence (and it is really nit picking) it would be JSB 18.1g, 15.9g, 14.3g. Followed very closely by H&N 21.1g and 14.6g. The rifle is NOT pellet picky!

Like many FX rifles, the Independence has a power adjust wheel on the left side of the rifle which allows the user to quickly adjust from a little under 12 ft-lbs to approximately 18.5 ft-lbs to 30 ft-lbs. All power adjustments are highly repeatable.

My Independence gives the best shot strings with respect to shot count and power when the rifle is operated between 210 Bar and 140 Bar.

I cannot vouch for the noise levels of the Indy version of this rifle, but the Independence is available with a full length shroud and it is quiet. VERY QUIET!

I just got a FX independence in .22 got it back in September of this year. sniper quite. taken out a dozen rabbits with. I use the H&N barracuda hunter extreme pellets. DEAD ON target with those bad boys. did not want the hassle of dive tanks all around the house either. it is not cheap but when you shoot it. you will know where the extra money went. I will never use a springer again. had a Crossman nitro venom dusk. but then what do you expect for a 150.00 dollar made in china gun. there is a video of a 70 ft lbs version of the .25 independence. it is still in R and D yet. but if it ever hits production. I will add it to my collection. bottom line I LOVE THIS GUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks powershift,
I am getting it early next week and I plan on being very active with it the pigeons near me are insane and nobody hunts them anymore .....I also did get a hold of Travis from Air gun Source today what a great guy! ...so pleased to have a great customer service store some what close to me!
I wish there were some Ted's holdover hunting videos of this gun i love the way he covers everything in them!

FX Indy/independence is what got me into PCPs. I did not want the scuba setup, and wanted the logistical simplicity of my springers.
Then, after a few long paper-punching seasons I wish I had a scuba setup :)
Still have not found THE pellet for it. AA 16 grain and JSB 15.89s seem to be most consistent at all power levels.JSB 25gr perform quite poorly.
Oh, yeah, love the gun. A year old and only a couple 1000s of shots through it, no problems yet.

Well sad to say I got my 25cal in last week and had nothing but trouble with it .it took forever to pump up I though this was odd since I've read a few reviews of this Air Guns put bout 20rds threw it .well to say the least I got it up to 200 bar and fired one shot I pumped at 65 times And it did not make it back to 200bar so I'm sending her back to AOA for warranty repair They were great about taking it back to fix it but I feel like I paid full Price for a refurbished gun 😥O well hope they get it work out and I'm hoping she well be awesome when I get her back
