Fx Impact X .30cal or Edgun R5 .30cal

So for general hunting and long range hunting these to platforms have been juggling in my head. So my question is to both owners of these to comment there experience with there gun and overall likes and dislikes. I also want to note I currently have the Edgun Leyla 2.0 .25cal and love it along side my Kailbergun Cricket .25 which loves shooting NSA slugs 34.7 grains.

Impact 25 & cricket 25. I think the impacts are hard to beat at range over 100!

However, my impact is like a race car. Broke down after 100 laps. Currently blowing air for the 3rd time. I'd never buy another! Saying that, I will tell you i love that impact when shooting correctly. It just won't be shooting correctly for long. Now that they've extended the warranty to 3 yrs, I'm trying to get an RA . I fully expect to pay for all repairs because I've "tinkered" with every part of that gun.

I've never had edgun, and probably won't. I think I'm out of the high end gun business.

I think what I'm trying to point out is; impact have around 20 places to leak ( and they will). Edgun has how many?

The EdGun is built to take abuse and shrug it off. The .30 is single shot and I'm really not sure why it's only available in single shot and limited edition quantities. It's a brilliant gun and I love the tensioned barrel design and other things about the EdGuns.

I can't speak firsthand toward the Impact as I've never owned one. I can say that the ST barrel technology is proven. It would be advantageous if you had good mechanical aptitude/hands on ability or at least a desire to work on your own gun to own an Impact. There are great resources out there to learn the platform.

Edgun. Edgun. Edgun. I am thoroughly impressed with my R5. Just ordered some NSA slugs for it should be here in a couple of days. I have a kalibrgun Cricket standard in .25 and a wildcat in .25. As you know the cricket is a laser and so is the Edgun. Both guns out shoot the Wildcat at any yardage, especially when you start to stretch things out over 50 yards. The ST barrel is fine but I have had better results standard grooved barrels

Well I'll say I've owned both. ( both .25 though)

I sold the impact to buy an matador and NEVER looked back.

If your doin mostly hunting then the edgun is for sure the right move. But if you like bench shooting the impact is a little better I think.

Think about what happens when something goes wrong.

The impact is alot more complicated and takes time to solve issues.

The edgun you can replace the 7 or so o rings and go on about your day.

Also think about who you will have to call if something goes wrong.

I've never spoke with anyone from fx and have mixed reviews of there service.

Now for edgunwest. Well you cant buy from a better guy.

Love my Edguns, have the .30 in super long and regular. Only shooting the regular as the super long is for 100 plus yards. Right now just squirrel hunting and most of my shots are 50 yards or closer. I also have a boss in .30 that is gathering dust. Just my two cents.

edguns are like the AK47 of pcp´s... they are built like a tank!!... accurate, reliable, consistent, quiet, powerfull.... i had one for 5 years and i never changed a single oring...

Someone above likened an FX Impact to a race car, which is quite a good analogy. Just like a race car is not practical for every day driving, an FX Impact cannot be your only shooting/hunting rig. If you pick it up that day and it is not working properly, it will take time to fix it and if you are hunting that day, you will need to use a different gun. But if all goes well, the FX Impact is light, consistent, accurate and a hoot to shoot. But you must be willing to be hands on and tinker with it to extract from it what you want, and at times, risk getting it out of tune first in order to tune it to what you want.

I think the impact is super simple to work on and don't understand all the fear. I say pick the one you like most and don't look back.

My .30 Impact X is slightly modified by myself to a little over 100fpe.

I fear o-rings like I fear my shoelaces coming untied. If you only wear shoes with velcro, don't buy an Impact.

The difference between shoelaces and o-rings ... Shoelaces cost more.

There's no doubt that there are more seals and O-rings inside an impact than inside an Edgun. Therefore it's a logical to conclude the probability of leaks are higher and the complexity of a repair or also greater. That may bother some people and not bother others. Just make a knowledgeable choice based on your preferences. I do like the sports car analogy as I do own sports cars and very reliable 28 year old pickup truck with very few electronics. Sports cars take a lot more maintenance at a higher cost than an old pickup truck with no fancy Electronics. Just like a sports car you wouldn't take off road but you would a four-wheel drive pickup. The impact is less likely to maintains zero if banged around trees or dropped on the ground compared to an Edgun. However the impact is easier to adjust probably better trigger lighter and to many better accuracy.
