FX Impact x .30 cal owners chime in with likes, dislikes or opinions.

I have the impact X and it’s been shooting great, I have nothing bad to say about mine, but...it’s using a lot of pellets...and not too much air...

i don’t hunt, just shoot.steel, and paper.it does it well...tiny groups in 177,22 and 30...I shoot at 30 yds varying power and pellets.the smooth twist barrels are generally pretty accurate with many different pellets..

The .30 Impact is a great platform & is at the leading edge of long range performers.

I have an original Impact & the new Impact X. My original Impact is still shooting strong, although it did need to be resealed once. The new Impact X is even more refined.

If FX could improve on anything I'd say it would be the trigger & the robustness.

The trigger works great (unless you like it really light), & the regulator & valve work amazing (unless you push them too hard).

And by that I mean the maximum velocity you'll be able to achieve with the 44g pellets is about 870 (with the 700mm barrel). Anything over that and you're either pushing the gun past its comfort zone or damaging the regulator/valve. Mines shooting about 860-865 fps with the regulator on 140 & the valve on 3.5.

You never want to shoot a gun with all of its settings maxed out because you'll lose all of your "harmony" and quite a bit of accuracy. Ultimately I wish the impact could shoot those pellets up to 1000 fps. In which case you could detune it to about 900 fps and still achieve good results. This would also make shooting .30 slugs a much more obtainable goal.

Aside from that the impact is certainly an amazing airgun. If you could find someone around you who owns one I definitely suggest getting together to try it.

Thanks Michael that’s the kind of info I appreciate and as far as trying one the closest shop is maybe 700-1000 miles away from me and no airgunners for at least 100 miles and that’s being lenient so I need to order from reviews and what other members on here have to say so I need to really cover everything I can on here, that’s how I ordered my Wildcat Patriot.25, the settings you have yours set at are the same as what I’m looking at, I have a Bully 30 that I’m getting 991-995 out of right now and that seems to be ok except it’s loud so it will be getting a Emperor or maybe a shorter Ronin, I also have a HMx .30 that is a sweet 100 yard shooter but I’m looking for something lighter, higher shot count and fits in between those two and the X seems to be the ticket for me, I think it would make a good stalk and walk airgun for the trails and fields but yet make me a real nice bench shooter and 90%of my shooting is from a bench due to my disabilities, I like steel targets set from 50 to 100 yards( farthest my property will let me stretch at this time ) but I do paper at 50 and 75 yards when zeroing.

If a person could look up sales history I’m probably the only FX HMx owner in Mn hahaha let alone a AV compressor owner, most folks shoot PBs in this part of the country and that includes ND and SD. Airgunners are far and few around here when it comes to PCPs but a lot of folks have Walmart springers for pest control around here. Although my Sport shop wants me to show one of their customers one of my .25s for a issue he has with his bait shop and pond. Maybe I could start something up here hahaha.

Don't get me wrong, crosman; I really liked my Impact .30 for the short time I owned her. She certainly was a bunny-buster! She got 40 regulated shots per bottle fill and was extremely accurate. The first time I squeezed the trigger with a bunny in the cross-hairs, I literally squealed with delight like a schoolgirl! It was so much more power than my Daystate Pulsar .25 with a considerably louder bark! She damn near decapitated that unfortunate lupine. I had been shooting H&N Sport Baracuda Hunter Extreme .25s (28.48 gr hollowpoint) out of my Pulsar, and was used to a little pffft and the pellet fully expanding and stopping inside the animal. I was actually startled when the .30 cal 50.12 gr domed JSB passed right through the bunny's skull and dumped most of its energy in the hardpack scrub desert about 10 yds beyond with a huge plume of sand!

It's just that I wanted to give you a heads-up that the Impact is not all sweetness and light. It is an extremely complex platform with lots of bells and whistles and because of all the swappable this and adjustable that, she is high maintenance. But, to each his/her own. Michael makes a good case. I personally prefer the fixed platform of the FX Wildcat .25 Mk1. Less of which to pay attention or go out of whack.

I have the 700mm barrel. I’ve only shot about 300 pellets through it so far. The weather has been hideous! The best thing about it is it’s very accurate! I haven’t shot it further than 100y but with this set up it’s also the first time I’ve felt the desire to go further . At 100y it’s very consistent.

I installed one of Ernest slightly enlarged titanium valve seats in my Impact and that’s the only modification on the gun. Over the chronograph I was getting well above 900fps. I settled for 890fps but that was more a ‘let’s see how that works’ rather than a lot of trial and error testing. At that speed sub inch groups at 100y where frequent. Keen when the weather gets better to try Michaels setttings

I’ve done some hunting with it and if that’s what you intend to do it has some real knock down power Devastating! I hadn’t ever shot a .30cal before this and the power was the biggest surprise

I’m happy to have it

One dislike. The price of .30cal pellets!

I have a couple 30 cals and lots of 30 cal tins so I know what ya mean, this will be for bench and tetherd, but then I like to walk and stalk hunt when my health permits it so having a higher shot count will be nice when I’m not tetherd, between my 25,357,45 the 30 cal is the one I like the best for over all shooting/plinking steel plates from 50 to 100 yards but I plan to get to where I can get out to 125-150 on my property just need to make a different shooting lane for those distances.

Im thinking if I can get the Impact X .30 cal shooting 860 as it’s optimal speed I will be in a perfect spot for hunting and Steel shooting, right now I’m getting 991-995 fps out of my Bully and i can’t remember what my HMx 30 is getting right now but it’s quiet and smooth and my go to airgun I like it a lot but I might be getting ready to let it go, it’s a tad to heavy for me if I want to walk and stalk hunt and that’s why the Impact x 30 700mm has caught my eye.

With my disability I think it would be the perfect .30 cal airgun for me just like my Wildcat .25 Patriot is so that’s why I need as much info as possible on the x.

Thanks Michael, I did watch the video that Steve did on the Impact x and he covered most of my concerns that kept me away from it, he did a real nice job in a short amount of time to explain what was scaring me away from such a airgun, once I watched it I wasn’t so intimidated anymore and and realized it isn’t all that bad if a person understood the basics, I would like to see what the muzzle end of the 700mm barrel looks like and other then that I’m basically interested in how it shoulders and how the weight is just walking around with it as if out hunting and just a general overall opinion on it like would you buy it again, would you recommend it to someone else, is it easy to load the mag, does the mag fit the receiver good and just the basic overall of the airgun itself.

Jim.

I have my gong sitting out at 150y. Adjusted regulator pressure down and now shooting at around 860fps. As soon as the wind stops howling I’ll shoot and post some groups. If there is anything in specific you like to see just ask.

Michael

The groups would be nice to see at 125-150 yards, that would be the farthest I would ever shoot it and for hunting I would stay within 75 yards depending on target.

Hey Jim here’s a shot of the muzzle. You can see the flat section on the end. Attach a spanner there to screw that whole threaded piece out. Then you can slide out the liner.

I’ve hunted a lot with the Impact here’s an unlucky fox I nailed with the .22 barrel. Free hand at about 50m.

It’s an easy gun to carry I don’t have a sling just carry it by the pistol grip with the barrel down. This is fine even with the 700mm barrel I would say the bipod is a must Even if you don’t shoot prone it just makes picking it up and putting it down so easy especially for times you may have to go through a fence ect

Dont bother with the factory magazine Just factor the Sideshot magazine into your budget I’d try to get a deal from the guys who sell both the Impact and the sideshot

I think handling it shouldering it and it’s weight and balance are strong points for the Impact. I know a lot of people have said they didn’t like it that much til they picked it up.

Hopefully sometime this wind and rain will stop and I can do some more testing with the .30cal barrel.
