Hello guys, new to me is this FX Impact X .25 700mm. I need some advice on how low is safe to allow the air to go before refilling to 250 bar. If I take it down to about 110 bars (according to the FX gauge on gun) then the Regulator pressure may drop below 100 bars. I just got this gun recently and I have made lots of adjustments to where it seems to have the "harmony" but I want to be sure that I am not going to harm anything by going below the regulator pressure limit and the air pressure limit. My Reg Pressure is currently set at 135/140 (the needle is just before the 1 on the 150 bar mark). I can get approximately 85-90 shots of JSB 33.95gr from 250 bars down to a little less than 150 bars (fx gauge on gun). Thanks for the advice and input.

Regards.

2manyAirGunz:

I have read in the manual to "Never adjust Reg pressure to lower than 100 bar" I have mine adjusted at +- 140 bar (dependent on gauge accuracy). However, I am saying that during "shooting" can you allow it to go below 100 bar.

Also, is it true that if your Regulator pressure is set at 140 bars, it should remain the same when the Air Pressure reaches 140 bars. This information may be helpful to others, so please if anyone with the knowledge knows about it, please explain. Thanks

I wouldn't trust these gauges to be precise. Not just an Impact or FX issue. If you compare the Reg gauge to the fill pressure gauge to see when one drops below the other, especially as tank pressure drops. That'll give a little info. Then when you refill, compare your tank pressure to that of your fill source, that will tell you a little more. You'll have to pick which gauge to trust, I go by my fill source (large tank with a large Wikai gauge). But, specifically to your question, 100b is too little pressure for most .25 applications and at that level you are most certainly well below your reg setting. Doesn't mean you cant take a few shots off the reg but 100b is pushing it before breaking the valve stem.

As a general guideline, I wouldn't shoot much lower than the reg is set at. Chrony and target will answer that question.

Once you go below what your regulator is set at, the regulator gage will also show the same amount of air as is in the bottle. After all, the gun only has a certain amount of air in the bottle so either gage is only going to register what is available. If your bottle is showing 100 psi then the regulator is only showing 100 psi. As JDC said, the small gages used by FX in the Impact are notorious for giving the wrong pressure so I would keep that in mind. My 74 ft cf tank is always off by 3 or 4 hundred psi from what is reading on the Impact while my Marauders and Edgun and Wildcat are dead on. The EDMU in the Edgun is pretty darn precise so if it correcponds with the Omega CF tank then I am very close to the pressure readin on the gage.

Just one question, if you paid extra money to buy a gun with a regulator in it ... and you know that a regulator is there to make the extreme spread low without having to deal with a power curve … please explain your reasoning behind running the gun that far off the regulator. Just wondering.

BrocStar!

This is an interesting question, and one I've been asking myself lately. I'm running my FX Maverick @ 170/130. With that in mind, surely one could run all the way down to 130 (or slightly above) before refilling? The manuals say that the pressure dirrerential between the two regs should be between 25 and 50 Bar, but does not state the reason. Not sure why. Running close to the bottom pressure should not give too many problems. I see someone mentioned valve damage. Could someone with more experience perhaps give us guidance in this aspect?

Thanks in advance.

Mike
