FX Impact x 177 finally arrived,but a big disappointment

Whether you plan on tinkering and tuning it or not, a $2k+ gun should come working well out of the box but I'm just beating the dead horse. Hope it works well when you get it back and hopefully it doesn't take long!

What you felt when loading a pellet, are you sure it wasn't just the pellet passing through the barrel o ring? Usually feel two back to back points of slight resistance when loading all the bullpups I've owned.

Yes, I agree that it should work out of the box, I was warned wenn the time came that o-rings should be changed, that’s ok but not after 250 shots that’s to early in my opinion. And I honestly didn’t think it was a o-ring because of the sound it made, I expected a hzz sound and I thought that I could feel or hear air leaking, but that wasn’t the case.

about the pellet probe, I honestly don’t know I haven’t shot a bulpup before. But it felt like it hit the side wenn loading a pellet.

but if’s it’s still there wenn they are returning the gun, I’ll go through Mr Rowes videos and see if there is anything there needs adjustment maybe a loose screw or something that would make it not align probably

ER videos are really great, still sometimes they miss a few important tips sometimes (justa few). For example washers in the regulator (quantity for old impact and new ones, position, etc) but still they are amazing.

I have found myself that you can put the barrel wrong in the impact x, even when it supposed to have only 1 place, sometimes it goes too deep and the the cocking gets too hard. (22 cal)

If you like Fx (i Like it a lot) and you are not into DIY (only a way of saying you will need to go eventually to the guts of your impact, or wait until someone does) the crown is the one. (IMO).

Hope your impact comes back soon! happy shooting!

BTW I am learning too, but I am a DIY guy 100% love it, and I have taken apart the impact x 5 or 6 times, fixing small problems with the help of Ernest (great guy). But still not an expert (by far) just happy to share

Hi

i really like the videos from ER, I have watched them all 2-3 times now and I’ll keep watching them, that way the Impact isn’t so intimidating once I have to pull it apart.

I will keep the impact, I have no intention of buying the crown cause I like bulpups more and I can’t afford to put 2000 more in another gun.

every thing new is difficult and once you have tried it a few times it gets easier and I think and hope it’s the same with the impact it will get easier.

unfortunately we don’t have Ernest to talk to and get help from over here, we could really use a great tinker and tuner over here. But again I will use this great forum for help and info on the impact

i really hope it gets here soon, so I can get shooting again!😝

Jps

it seems that a lot focus is on the 25 and 30cal, it’s to bad because a lot of people over here mostly buy 177 cal.

After I bought mine I must admit to getting nervous, wenn you read that air gun dealers tell people, not buy 177 because they can’t get them to shoot right.

it would be nice if some of the bigger you tube guys, would review 177 air guns. It’s almost 25 cal every time that gets reviewed, but it would be nice to see how the same gun in 177 is performing.

Update

well my impact was sent back, and I explained what happened wenn I shot it.

I was sent a new one and I was really happy, now the shooting could start! First I cleaned the barrel and wrote down all settings before I started to shoot it. I adjusted velocity and within a mag I had it shooting hole in hole at 22 yards.. and I thought yes! This time it works right! Loading and the trigger was much smoother on this one. But after a half mag it started to shoot with a lot of flyers and groups opened up again.. I looked at reg pressure and it had dropped 10 bars..

i talked to the dealership again and we decided to return the Impact and I got a refund for the hole gun... I’m really disappointed because wenn it worked as it should, it has been the best shooting gun that I have tried and it bothers me,that I/we couldn’t get it sorted so I could shoot this cool gun.

now wenn choosing another gun, every thing else is just meh compared to the Impact.. I have been looking at FX,Brocock,Daystate, Vulcan,I was close to buying a Vulcan, but decided against it at last minute.. I’m almost set at the fx Wildcat mk2, so I really hope it works flawlessly 👍🏻

Yeah thats really unfortunate, a Wildcat would be a great choice. As much as i love fx i wish they would stop selling the impact in .177 until they get it sorted.

Get it with the Smooth Twist BARREL,,,,,,,,and not the X barrel LINER. FX went from a very accurate proven barrel, to this un-proven, very thin and flimsy, held in by o-rings, X barrel liner that has exhibited accuracy problems. I have two guns that both have the True Smooth Twist Barrel,,,,,,,,NOT the liner. Both have exhibited stellar accuracy levels. 0 problems with either gun.

I will never understand why FX did this, other than to save money making a thin flimsy liner as opposed to a real barrel.
