FX Impact vs Mavrick???

Guess I should just throw my flagship mk11 in the trash? They had great resale value, the Mavrick has better shot count, better consistency, cheaper, less complicated plus cheaper...why would FX keep it around???

I've only had my Impact Compact about 6 months and have really had fun and problem free times with it. But to me it is now obsolete.

I can't see any reason why FX should keep it in it's line-up? The valve rod adjustment it has over the Mavrick that's not even really needed doesn't justify the extra manufacturing cost to continue to produce the FX impact MII.

They can reduce parts count to produce just like auto- manufacturers do by combining multiple parts to use on different models which translates to less parts and cheaper cost to produce.

Just my thoughts.

Impact Compact is 1.5" shorter in length + higher capacity mag. The maverick may have slightly better shot count, but I will be surprised if it is more consistent or accurate than a well tuned impact.

I have a lot of respect for FX as they keep nearly 100% of manufacturing in-house and make a very high quality product (which is reflected in the price). Sure this may lead to some struggle keeping up with production (especially this year) but I consider that a good problem to have, hah.

@ Odoyle, what’s is wrong with the Impact’s trigger. It’s no different from the trigger on my FX Streamline. Both are very crisp and light.

Problem is that I am a trigger snob and like very light match grade triggers preferably set as light as a 10 meter or a Field Target like Steyr and FWB and Anshutz rifle 4 ounces or less or just like a RAW or Taipan Veteran or any Daystate electronic trigger. Boarder line good for me are the HW110 and HW100 and FX Royale and Bobcat and Boss and Wildcat triggers even a modified Marauder or Challenger trigger.

Forget it Yo your not getting any more money out of me...well maybe if you can fix my Impact trigger😀. That was my biggest complaint.

10 more shots from the mag? The sideshot may fit and an inch and a half length won't persuade most to pay $500.00 more I don't believe.

Jps

I've noticed that same thing, rather than fine tune a model(improve) rush out a new model without parts to support the first gen.

If you sum it up the Maverick is basically a wildcat mk111, with a bottle, bigger plenum, and two regs. If you want to "upgrade" the impact with two regs, you can https://www.huma-air.com/400-500-CC-Bottle-Regulator. It looks like a nice gun. It seems to use parts from wildcat (block, tube, and second reg), and dreamline (bottle adapter, and reg), and some of the rails from impact. For customers it seems to be more choises to choose from

I’m new to the Impact and new to shooting slugs, but managed to get a few exceptional tunes going especially for targeting sub MOA at long distances. The valve adjuster has been instrumental to getting these exceptional tunes that deliver sub MOA groups out to 200m with a 22 600mm Impact. Hair breadth adjustments with the VA got me there after a basic speed tune using the hammer spring screw at the lowest reg pressure for the speed I wanted to shoot at.
Not sure if I could have got to this level of accuracy using HST adjustments only. Then again, I’m new to this. But my goodness, does the Impact deliver when you take the time to tune reg, HST and the VA.

The question I have is would the Maverick and Wildcat be able to get to the same magical tunes out to 200m without the valve adjuster? If so, then my next rifle in addition to the Impact may well be a Maverick or Wildcat MK3.
I was able to take time off last week and go hunting/ pesting for a whole week, shooting birds up to geese size at distances of up to 150m. And the Impact delivered way, I mean way beyond even my highest expectations. It’s sooo addictive shooting slugs in the wind and hitting targets consistently at these extended ranges.

That’s the test for me. I’ll be watching this space very keenly to see if other guns can do so, otherwise another impact, in 700mm will join my first one.

Got a very nice tune with 27 grain H&N .217s. I followed Bob O’s advice for harmonic tuning which he got from Roelf from AirHunters. And it works. After many frustrating sessions, I suddenly got this amazing accuracy and it’s very, very consistent, and it uses the valve adjuster for the final stages of the tune. Mostly sub MOA at 100m and even as far as 178m which is the max distance on my range (friend’s garden).

I tuned a friend’s Impact and got the same accuracy and consistency with JSB KOs .216 in .22. It tells me that it may well be possible to get a wider range of slugs tuned using this method and the valve adjuster.
