FX Impact Velocity Data

Nice weather this weekend; a bit windy though so I decided to do some chrony testing. I know there are other threads concerning Impact velocity but I was thinking that it might be interesting to start a "data base" thread for Impact owners because I'll bet, like me, you want to know where your Impact stands with respect to everyone else's for performance. So I'll list my numbers for Exact King Heavies MK I, 33.9 gn. I'll be back with Exact Kings 25.4 gn next weekend when I have the light for the chrony.
I did 5-6 shot strings just to get an average V. I won't list ES or SD because this is too small a sample size for meaningful statistics in those categories. I will say that with larger strings, PW=5/A give me the best ES/SD readings. Also this is not just for .25. Feel free to list any caliber.
All shots taken with valve setting 4, Regulator at 148 bar.

POWER SETTING EK HEAVY MK I VELOCITY

PW=MIN..............................................................................686 fps

PW=1......................................................................741 fps.............742 fps.........E

PW=2......................................................................782 fps.............777 fps.........D

PW=3......................................................................819 fps.............805 fps.........C

PW=4......................................................................848 fps.............836 fps.........B

PW=5......................................................................854 fps.............850 fps.........A

PW=MAX.............................................................................862 fps

Thanks, do you know what your regulator is set on? Have you done grouping testing at 75 yards or further? The reasons i ask, because i too have done testing last month, and at anything less than 50 yards I've got great groups (1/2 inch). I put a scope cam on and found out the MK1's as well as MK2's are spiral at all settings from 750 FPS Thru 840 FPS so far, and the only way to see it was at 75 yards and thru the scope cam. The groups at 75 yards are not that bad, anywhere between 1-2 inch groups even the groups at 100 not great but not horrible. So when i get back in town i'm going to try to speed things up 850-880 to see what happens.

Ah...I knew I was forgetting something....regulator is set to approx 148 bar. I added it to the first post with an edit,

I was working on groupings but had to replace some o-rings (my fault letting regulator setting too high.) and polised my barrel, so I'm starting over. There is a thread where I posted groups at 30 at the various power settings

http://www.airgunnation.com/topic/fx-impact-groups-and-accuracy/.

I shot at 50 this weekend but can't remember exact group size and useless to guess. It got too windy to go for longer.distance..gotta get up early when its still and see what 75 and 100 yd groups look like. I'll post when i get those shot. This weekend if nice weather.

I'll have to check for spiraling with my rifle as well...hate to hear that. My best groups are at setting 5 or A....a bit better at A so 850 and up might be what you need.

FYI... I have found that with the ST barrels and jsb pellet combinations that higher speeds produce the best groupings. With .30 880-890ish, .25 880-920ish
.22 900-930ish I haven't tested .177cal.
At the posted speeds groups were 0.5-1.0" respectfully at 50&100yds.
My Impact loves polymags as well just to put it out there.

Hey Topcat, not really sure how you get your 25 & 30 cal pushing pellets at that speed unless you've got your regulator cranked up. On max and VS of 4+ and regulator at factory I can only get 850 if i'm lucky. I know the gage is off and AOA said the regular is at 140-143 and they put a sticker that anything higher will void the warrant.

Drum: even with the spiraling/corkscrewing/wobbling pellets i get some great groups at 50 yards. Its only at 75 and 100 yards that my groups get unsatisfactory, and even then I can shoot a penny at 100 yards if you give me 10 chances :). My gun likes 5 and A the best too.

I'm out of town but when i get back i will crank up the speed and see what happens. You know TED Says.....LOL....no, I really enjoy his stuff and have a lot of respect for what he's done and value his opinion.....he is shooting his impact at about 860 and has just about eliminated flyers from his vocabulary..... just saying. He also use to shoot faster so he must of tweeted his regulator up there as well.

If Topcat is referring to the 25 gn Kings then 920 is easily doable.Ernest has a good video about what not to do when pushing the regulator. I tried pushing mine but as I shot the regulator began to climb and I didn't catch it and I blew an o-ring. I think at the outer limit the screw may start to work itself out but I find that hard to believe which pressure against it. Just keep an eye if you do go higher. I have had mine just a hair past 150 with no problems at all. I don't even know what the true gauge reading is...they are inaccurate. Just be cautious if trying to push towards anything higher and I wouldn't really advise it.

Just ordered more .25 pellets. Currently shooting .22. I will switch over and give you what I got. Just saying don't forget about your hammer bumper. On my gun, it makes a huge difference at least in 22. The only way I have found to repeat my results is to mic it like this.

The pic was hard to take but you get the idea. .330 I always measure from the same side at the same place.(Not the body of the gun but the washer.) I have found that to much slows my pellet down to little slows my pellet down. There is a sweet spot and it doesn't seem to be very big in .22 cal on my gun. It is about .0035 each way but when you get it in the sweet spot 18 shots STDVA. 2.2. I love the tuning on this gun, so fun to try to figure out .

I use the caliper measure on my valve as well, but for now it's max'd (just over 4 lines) at 11 mm. I was thinking that other calibers posted would be a help to some others out there. So if you want to post your .22, then please do. Hoping to see some .30 cal numbers as well. What is your power wheel setting at for this 0.330" valve setting?....curious.

When I was pushing the regulator with MK I's, my speed approached 1000 fps but then it suddenly dropped to 790 fps.....blown o-ring. So you CAN get the speed up with higher regulator setting but you really start running a risk. At my 148 bars and on MAX I'm a hair over 860 fps, which Ted had good success with. He also had good success at 830 fps in windy EBR conditions. At 5 or A I'm in the 850-855 range and shooting tight groups. At 40 yd I'm under 1/2" groups. I'd like to see some groups with the Heavies at say 880...just out of curiosity. But with .25 cal I'm going to stay below 150 bar on the regulator. Pretty happy with that. FYI I have also set my Cricket .25 to shoot at around 855 with Heavies. Just shoots well at that speed.

For,the Canadian model Impact .25 and .30 caliber the shroud is fixed not telescopic and measure 28.5 inches long.
I got it in last September in 2016.
My regulator gauge show 151
With valve showing 4 lines from factory setting
Max power i got an average of 887 fps with JSB 34 grains MK II
At 75 yards I have .5 inches grouping quite easy.
I dont have spiralling or so.
On 16'shots I sometimes have 1 flyer. Not all the time . Most of the time I have,16/16.

I will shoot the .30 caliber in April once the winter is over using JSB 50 grains pellets.

I don't mind sharing but i thought we were doing .25 it is why didn't put up my numbers. So All of you know at this time i don't know my reg setting i bought the gun used here on AGN and it had been to AoA a few times before i got it so i don't know if they messed with it or old owner but someone has at one point or another.(can tell buy tool marks)
JSB .22 18.33 (no sorting)
reg pres 145 ? ish
All 18 shots (.22 mag)
wheel power min .. hammer 3.03...... AV 881......STDIV... 2.5
wheel power 1.........hammer 3.30......AV 913.......STDIV . 2.2
I don't know if everyone thinks like me but STDVI to me is how i measure accuracy the same bullet traveling the same speed for the same distance would hit the same spot every time if STDVI is 0.0000 unless acted on by another force. Call it "GUMBY'S LAW"... lol ...it is why we sort pellets. If I could get .5 STDVI with out sorting you cold call me TED!
Not a shot at TED. i think he is just that good of a tuner.

Drum / GQ: I too now believe that speeds 860-880 would be better for my gun and my groups. I've been shooting 841 average for over 1200 MK1 rounds and its less than an MOA at 50 yards but i know every pellet i've shot spirals / wobbles and i think it because the pellet needs more speed to stabilize. I know TED shot 860 at EBR because he put it out on video as one of the secrets along with a lot of practice. Anything 50 yards and less I think you are going to have good groups, maybe it has to do with how much the pellet slows down around 50 yards i don't know, maybe that why if i speed it up just 20 FPS it will remain stable out to 75 and 100 yards i am just shooting in the dark. I do know that with the reg set to 143 valve spring at 3 and power wheel on 5 or A i get 841 FPS average a and no matter if the shoot on MAX or ABCD or 5432 every pellet i shoot at 75 yards will spiral / wobble in flight, so to me and for my accuracy i think i now need to pick up the speed just a hair. I know i have a SD of 4 with a shot string of 50 rounds. My impact is 25 CAL, fix shroud, FAC (american)

I shot at 50 yd last night at dusk. Very calm. Got a 1/2" group on setting A valve = 4. At Max, valve = 4 I got 5/8." Was hurrying a bit before I ran out of light. One set of targets doesn't say much. Need to shoot more at distance when I get a calm day. Hope to hear of your results/speed, Genuwine. I'm also going to order some Wika gauges before I continue to mess with regulator settings. You can't even begin to tune with gauges so inaccurate as these. I mean, I'm flying blind over here. My bottle and my regulator gauges are a good 20 bar apart from each other. I mean, come on!

My pellets came in today thank you to Pyramyd Air. As promised here is my .25 MK II work.

Set one is .22 cal i shot 20 sets (that is over 300 rounds) This is the best i got for now. I did bump up my regulator around true set 6 could not get in the 150 Avg until i did..(i say that. but i could but SD went to 8.5) They are all 16 shots except .22. it is 18 shots.
power= wheel power setting
Ham= mic.reading on hammer spring adjuster
reg bump= bump regulator after true set 6
set= nothing. (it it a dumb app when you erase one the next one in line takes it's number)
time and date=time and date LOL
if you want the entire shot string PM me i can text it to you.
Just my 17.99 worth. If it shows some intrest i will put up my KING .25... 25.39 results
