FX Impact SPAW Power Tune Kit with External Plenum = Over 100 FPE!

https://youtu.be/oExOFX9ck7o

Getting ready to send my FX Impact off to Southern Precision Air Weapons for all the new Saber Tactical accessories to be installed. Before I sent it off, I wanted show what the SPAW Power Tune Kit and the external plenum can do for performance gains. In talking with Ken he explained that the new factory kits are awesome and are a definite jump in performance over the original MKII, but this SPAW kit eeeeks out just a bit more power. When the .35 cal kits come out, I will need every little bit I can get to turn this rifle into an ethical Deer slayer. I also go over some of the other gear and tweaks I have done to this gun over the past year. Enjoy!

Ken did a power tune on my FX II 25 cal. I use my gun for appropriate air gun applications. I’m completely satisfied with SPAW and have found Ken Hicks to be a great help in my quest to advance myself in my hobby.

I’ll admit I have limited experience and perhaps an uninformed opinion but I just don’t “get” deer hunting with a gun of this type.

NOW a 45 Texan is a different deal but again it seems the hard way to do it.

Admittedly this is open to opinions. I’ve never figured why guys hunt dear here in Pa with 300 Win Mags but an FX 30 cal for deer seems like it opens the door for some cruel results.

I don’t hunt deer for full disclosure.

I saw a video of a doe take a heart shot from a normal power .30 cal using a 45 gn pellet and it didn't know it had been shot. It flinched, turned around and dropped dead similar to being hit with a broad head arrow. I'm not a deer hunter but I'm sure a 66gn NSA slug at 950 fps would pass through a deer's brain and most likely it's whole head. I think shot placement is far more important than power but it's good to have both. Most powder burners are way over powered for deer. It's very common for farmers kill 500 pound hogs with a .22LR, up close of course.

If you want the most power you'd want a plenum from Michal in Poland. Capable of 130+ in .30, 100 in .25. You don't need to send the gun away either.

SPAW power tune/fx power plenum aren't getting this power from what ive seen.

That said, nice gun!

Is that other kit from Michal in Poland doing anything other than just putting an external plenum on the regulator gauge? What other internal mods does his kit offer? The other big boost in power is the HUMA High Pressure Regulator that allows you to take your gun up to 200 bar. Not sure what the accuracy would be like though at that high pressure.

Its just a 70cc plenum, combine it with a hammer weight and 6.5mm valve seat and its a beast. Havent had the need to put in a Huma very happy with the stock reg.

Its not where ernests plenum goes it goes in stock position. When i bought it, there was no kit just the plenum. Got the other bits from Edosan.

The amount of power that can be gotten from these airguns is impressive. But, for perspective consider that hunters have been using shotgun slugs and .30-06 rifles for years, which create 3,000+FPE and 2,000+FPE, respectively. Now, maybe placement matters a lot, but i dont think an100FPE airgun (which is similar to a .22LR) is a responsible choice for hunting deer unless you are within 10-20 meters and can assure headshot.
