Just wanted to share my experience with the FX slug pin probe. With the pin probe installed I found that 20% of the shots using JSB 18.1 pellets would have fliers. The consistency wasn't very good. My Impact is a Tack driver with the pellet probe, but for some reason the pin probe caused fliers about 20% of the time. I was reading the reviews on Slugs and they also state that at less than 80 yards slugs were inconsistent. The groups start to tighten up at longer ranges. This started me thinking that the issue might be the pin probe itself? My slug groups are much better using the pellet probe. (More consistent) Wondering if anyone else has noticed this as well?
 
Are you using the dual transfer port with center guide bar?

If you are not, the ammo will not chamber consistently as it occasionally falls into the transfer port and gets nicked when you chamber it, causing flyers.

On the same note, i was able to get my pellet to seat at the same depth as my pellet probe for .25 cal JSB 34gr pellets - takes some time to mark and adjust the pin probe.

I had flyers also, but knew exactly when they were happening, right after a "rough: chamber. The flyers went away after I installed a Huma high flow dual transfer port with center guide bar.

Well the limitation of the pin probe to seat a pellet is the ability to load the magazine. I had it set at the maximum it could go. Tried several things until I finally gave up. Switch liners and even purchased a 500mm barrel kit thinking it might have something to do with harmonics of the barrel. Finally realized it was the pin probe.

Now I'm back with the pellet probe and my gun is a "Tack Driver" again. 

I was thinking that even if the pin probe was seating the pellet in an odd way, that by the time it traveled down the barrel it should have corrected itself. But that didn't seem to be the case. 

In any case? I just wanted to give people the heads up if they are experiencing the same symptoms as I was.

If you are using your magazine you are not able to seat a pellet as far forward as a slug with the pin probe or it will interfere with the operation of the magazine. If you are loading single shot it can be adjusted to seat a pellet further forward. I bought mine so I could adjust where the pellets and slugs were seated in the chamber. But sold it when I found I had to load single shot to do so.

Actually even with my single shot thingy, the pin probe can only be adjusted so much until it will interfere with your ability to install the single shot device or the magazine. Like you I ended up just selling the pin probe. For me I didn’t think the slight increase in performance was worth the loss of consistency.

This is good to know. I have the pin probe, and when I chronied a shot string with the 34 grain jsb’s, the extreme spread was rediculous. I’m wondering if they’re not seated properly and it’s causing this issue. It didn’t happen with the lighter 26 grain pellets, but maybe their skirts are shallower allowing them to seat properly. All good things to think about. Thanks for the heads up!
