I am not the expert, but I think that the new one needs the 15 Belleville washer stack and the new ball end set screw. The distance between piston, set screw and high pressure inlet are critical.
There is a new 13 and 15 washer stack available, also the old stack had two thin black Belleville washers then 9 silver. The new ones are all the same thickness. The old set screw knife edge can be slightly flattened to help prevent it gouging the piston
I don’t recommend using 11 washers with the new piston, I do recommend calling FX US or U.K. service centres, I know for a fact that both Ernest and Liam will talk you through the fitting process.
I have left out some details as I am not officially a service agent, calling one of the authorised agents will get you the low down on the reg body washer compression and first filling process...

I asked fx the same question and got this reply.
I can’t be done. If there was a short piston in the rifle you need to put in a short one again. Same thing if you have a long piston in the rifle, you need to put in a long one if it’s going to be replaced.
The long piston have 15 washers and the short one have 11.

My partner have set the short piston with 13 Belleville washer with a significant sucess.
SD = 2.1 over 32 pellet shots out of the tin,,,(not sorted)

1. the original that was designed for the 14mm piston
2. The updated action that has a deeper bore to support the longer piston.

Airgato really wants to know how can he tell which piston to order as a spare without taking the reg apart?
It is a newer model with the extra bushing for the pin in the trigger. It’s about 6 months old
