FX Impact or Maverick Which is better?

For starters are you left-handed? lol Cause that's an automatic impact.

Also you can fine-tune the Impact with more minuscule adjustments. I have only watched the Videos on the maverick but after watching Ernest and a lot of other reviews while you can shoot fast, and accurately with the Maverick the Impact still has more in-depth tuning adjustments.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I'm right-handed. Lol
In my understanding, Maverick and Impact would be functionally equivalent, right?
The concern is structural reliability, but what do you think when comparing both? Is there anything you think Maverick is better than the successor?

More knobs, dials, and levers...

More opportunity for greatness, or more opportunity to become frustrated. If you like to tinker and tune and test and refine, you'll probably find the Impact more rewarding. If on the other hand that sounds like drudgery, perhaps neither.

Thank you for your reply.
Impact can be set in more detail, and there is no functional difference between the two.

Price lol ( know you said besides price haha) . I think the Maverick is that good in-between super tinker type person and just want to straight-up shoot and not mess with it too much. The Maverick is kind of like a starter gun for a more advanced experience. Def. helps you lead up to the amount of tinkering you're gonna do with an Impact from my understanding. I have shot it and played with it but I do not own one yet. I preordered my Maverick with UA. The gun when I had it in my hands and was shooting it out in the desert was extremely reliable even with the amount of dust blowing all over the plate when it came to durability. I love my Impact though, I am only getting a maverick as my second back up gun and some diversity lol. Tbh if I had the money right now I'd def. get a 3rd gun and get the Impact Compact, I have a 600mm on my Impact right now but Id def. upgrade to a longer barrel and get the compact impact so I have dual functions without having to switch barrels.

So not to make the choice any harder but both are amazing guns. Im getting the Maverick sniper. But I guess the functional difference the Maverick has a Duel reg. which has a different form of tuning. Its not exactly like the fine-tuning knobs but the dual regs can make it extremely consistent like the Impact.

The only major difference I see is the Impact has a very fine tune on the valve travel while the Maverick has none. This helps if you intent to fine tune the harmonics to the inth degree. That doesn't mean you can't get a darn good harmonic tune on the Maverick however, it'll just take more time. On the other hand the Mav has twin regulators which should give you better shot to shot consistancy. It's also a simpler gun which should pay off in fewer repairs.

If I have money and want higher adjustment accuracy, wouldn't it be better to choose Impact over Maverick?
It turns out that the fine-tuning knobs can be finer and the dual regs can be adjusted more simply.
I'm thinking of using .22cal (short barrel) and .30cal (normal length barrel) properly with one gun. In that case, is the base body exactly the same for .22cal and .30cal?

Thank you.
The tuning mechanism is different between the two, and Maverick seems to have fewer failures because it is simpler.
Which tuning mechanism do you think will become mainstream in the future? Do you think both are mechanisms that deserve to be continued?

As an Impact owner, if my situation was different and I just wanted a good gun to shoot and have some room to experiment, I would choose the Maverick over the Impact. The things that make an Impact an Impact are not needed for most or the aggravation that comes with it. I see a ton of tunes where guys are running their VLA wide open. Why have it?

I’m sure many Mavericks can outshoot or at least match an Impact at normal airgun distances. The one thing the Maverick will never beat an Impact at is an oring contest.

Thank you for the easy-to-understand answer.
Winning the oring contest = There are many air leaks, right?

Plenty of Mavericks leaking right out of the box. It’s just part of owning a PCP. More orings just means more places to leak but it doesn’t mean that it will be leaking all the time. I made the statement to speak for the complexity of the Impact.

Most everything others have said is very accurate. We have both and they are great. They aren’t the same gun, not even close. I’d liken the Maverick to an upgraded Wildcat/Impact Hybrid??? I love my Impact because I love the adjustability, huge magazine, so many available parts and upgrades. It’s powerful, super accurate and contrary to belief, reliable. I think the majority of problems are created by owners! You hear about all of the problems but none of the guns like mine that just work all the time. There are tens of thousands of these guns out there, so you’re going to hear people complain when they mess them up! Been there done that with my first Impact. I did have a hammer seat break, but after thousands and thousands of rounds. I just absolutely love this gun! My son got a Maverick last November and it’s a great gun too. It’s also powerful right out of the box but with this gun, once we got it set up and dialed in for the 33.95gr pellets and 32.8gr slugs, we’ve left it alone. It’s not as adjustable but it is adjustable enough for many people’s needs! It is also very accurate, powerful and reliable. It’s not as powerful as my Impact but I have many modifications, aftermarket parts and upgrades. Like others have said, it really depends if you want to upgrade, tinker, but aftermarket parts and mess around with the externally adjustable settings or if you want to set it up, get it dialed in and then just shoot. The oversized magazine on the Impact doesn’t bother me one bit and I am a lefty. I actually love having 28 shots available! The magazine on the Maverick is smaller and has less capacity and it does stick into my check a bit, for sure. Both great guns, it’s going to boil down to what kind of air gun you’re looking for and what you want to spend. As far as consistency, yes, the Maverick is consistent, but if you set up your Impact correctly, it can be too. I set up my gun last week for the new 34.9gr NSA slugs and shot a 30 shot string with an ES of 2fps! The Impact is still FX’s premier air gun but the Maverick is also a great gun in it’s own right. You will be happy with either!

Have a good one. Stoti

Thank you for your very detailed reply.
I understood most of the information I wanted to know.
It's a little off the original question,
For example, if I buy Impact (.30cal) and use it occasionally at .22cal, can I just replace the barrel and tune it? Is it necessary to replace the hammer or hammer spring separately? If changing the caliber isn't very easy, I'd like to take a moment to consider .25.

You have to replace the barrel, probe and magazine. You do not need to replace the hammer or springs. The parts you do switch out can be purchased as caliber change kits, everything you need. You will have to re-tune your gun, but once you do it the first time for each caliber, if you take good notes, you should be able recreate the settings each time you switch calibers. I love the .25 cal but that’s just me, everyone is different. Many people change calibers frequently to fit their needs, I don’t, the .25 does what I need it to. Good luck, I really think you’ll be happy with either gun. They really are great. I absolutely love my Impact and my son loves his Maverick!
