Fx Impact Fix & Mods for more FPS / FPE

Ladies and gents , forgive me for my ignorance here , but what are you’s All doing with the probe securing setscrew. I’ve seen ER’s method of retaining it in the block and it seems like a good method . I’m just wondering if there wasn’t a simpler way . I’m pushing close to 60 FPE in .22 and would really hate to get that probe in the shoulder while shooting . Now we have some pushing close to or over 150FPE. That would definitely leave a mark . Please post a picture of what method you prefer using , I myself will probably go the ER route with a second capscrew from behind .

I added a 1/8" roll pin. The hole in the block acts as a guide to drill your other probes the same if you have multiple calibers.

Thanks. I'm preparing to drill a TP on one of my 30 cal barrels, I had it measured out when I took out the action, but can't find the paper that I wrote it down on 😝 I was going to use the FX inlet as a guide, but figured I'd confirm here.

Hobbyman - I feel a little safer with the K&L buttstock, that little stainless grub screw is pretty stout - but I'm with you .. that wouldn't be fun to dig out of your shoulder!

Hobbyman2007, it seems like I read that the new Impact models have a 4mm set screw in them now rather than the older versions which had a 3mm set screw. I recently drilled and tapped my block and probes for a longer 4mm set screw. I feel much more comfortable with that in there. There's room enough in there that you could do a 5mm set screw if you really wanted the security.

I noticed i had a leak last night and today at lunch i watched the masterclass video about common leak areas. Bought some leak detector on the way home from work. So after not too much drama found that the B23 oring was leaking. Luckily i had either the right one or one that worked in a kit i had bought for the Royale.

I had bought a kit from Edosan, with the bumper, hammer weight and 6.5mm Ernest made vs.

I only used the bumper and hammer weight along with the Polish chubby plenum and made 90.6fpe. I was pleasantly surprised and always assumed i had fhe integrated valve seat being a MK2 190000+ serial. When i had it apart i looked closer and saw i didn't, got the old one out and put in the 6.5. The old is I think 5.5? Hard to measure.

What a size difference, got the house alone here leak is gone and got a few Eunjins at 1012 and 1016 fps!

99fpe in .25!

Glem's test motivated me to test the velocity with the 62 grain Varmint Knockers that Dale sent me. Getting 961fps according to the FX chrono at ~150-152 bar.

~127FPE seems a little low. I have a 7 gram brass hammer weight, and I saw a gain of around 15-20fps going from 145-150'ish, but I might try the ~9 gram weight that I made to see if there's any gains. Brass inlet wasn't modified. Pellet probe is double ported, but I still had some room to open it up.

My first 30" TJ barrel is almost done. Waiting on a new part to arrive Saturday so I can finish. I turned a couple if different sized pellet / slug pins from a good stainless drill rod.

I have the seating depth pretty damned perfect with the throat that I cut into the chamber. I think the added barrel length and unrestrictive probes will help get me closer to being in @edosan's 1000+ fps club LOL, but I'm just getting anxious to test out these barrels and see what I can do with them for accuracy.

Can you please specify which is the “Polish chubby plenum”?

Thank you

B 23 O-ring new Polish production plenum?

Guys, are you trying to catch up SilverSurfer?! ajajaja

@glem nice. Serial number on Mk2 do not tell much, you will find mk2 even "late" release with the old VH and VS, only way to tell is making what you did. Glad it worked ok (you took your time! jaja) . Is funny when some users says: "there is not difference with a larger bore VS" (I have read that somewhere). is a BIG difference.

@mtnghost you need more weight, I forgot to mention but I change the weight, add a new brass hammer (24 grams and hw 8 grams) to get 150 fpe, but still my config is a bit different (bigger VS and Bigger Bore on Plenum).

@kiko jaja Chubby Polish is the only plenum that came from poland, the integrated one. Mentioned several times pages back.

That is not bad Glem. What reg pressure were you running at?

Yeah more than double stock power isnt terrible. Its at 171 or so.

@Glem.Chally There's a huge difference in that 1mm hole eh! How was the group size with the extra FPS?

Yeah big difference, no groups yet just a few over the chrony.

Yeah maybe from the threads from the rod dragging over it? He did supply some spares that i found after. Heres the one that went bad.
