FX Impact MKII 22 first groups w/ slugs

By that I meant as it came to me from Ernest without touching anything on it, just put a scope on and loaded the mag with slugs.

Knowing that I shoot slugs, Ernest put a slug liner in it. Pellet liner "A" is what it comes with AFAIK, which was also in the box.

Ernest tuned it with the JSB Monster RD. I loaded some random weight Varmint Knocker slugs and shot those groups without trying to tailor the velocity to the weight.

I was surprised at the accuracy at that speed, but after watching Matt's video, it's clear that slugs can be pushed faster without being over-stabilized, within reason that is. Shooting them faster was never a concern of mine as I never had a rifle capable of this kind of power.

The factory MKII Impact will be capable of this power level as well.

And those coins are DIMES! Not quarters for reference on the target. I’m going to be needing a Impact eventually. Can’t wait for more of your groups. I can imagine what the group would look like at 100 yards if there was no wind and you used bags. I’ll bet you that you’re going to be getting the 50 yard results at 100 right away. The 100 yard golf ball challenge will have to have a new category now...the 100 yard marble challenge.

Copy that. Thanks.

@ Bob-O

Are you using .217 or .218 diameter slugs?

I just installed my new 700mm liner about an hour ago and got 990fps at 150 bar with the 27gn Neilsens for the fastest shot and 975 for the slowest but I'm using .217 diameter slugs. Matt Dubber said the .217 shoots a little faster but may not be as accurate as .218 in some guns. I'll have to shoot from a vice to see what the gun is capable of, I'm nowhere near as good a shot as you.

I'm using the .217 diameter. I haven't tried the .218 as accuracy is good. I've only grouped the 28gr VK slugs. I have a few other weights but haven't tried any of them yet.

990fps is fast buddy! That is on par with my MKII at 148bar.

:)

I was really surprised at the speed since I have a smaller valve and much smaller plenum. As we go up in caliber your gun would have much more power than mine.

Do you have a link to the slugs you're shooting? I can't find 28gn.

Shot some 100yd groups this evening....10mph wind. 30 and 31.5gr VK slugs. Seems it's consistent around d 1" so far. If I had more slugs and more time, I'd try to tighten up the tune but realistically it's not bad at all.

Ernest did a bang up job on my .30 too. It's flinging a 50gr at 948, that's 100fpe at 140bar. It was awesome before, now it's total awesomeness. I like. Even got a few personal calls while he was doing the work, nice guy for sure.

Thinking I need an x barrel now too, but it's stacking pellets now at 75yds w just 2mil of holdover

What was the total price for this tune and how long did it take ?

Impressive gun, Nice Scope! I've been shooting slugs for quite a few years now. Never forget how much flack I got for having a top tier scope on an AG. LOL! It is now becoming quite popular. My current Flavor is Zeiss.

Just get an Athlon Ares ETR 5-30-50 FFP for my Impact. Have one on my Master Piece 6.5 creedmore and is perfect. Really like Athlon Scopes.

Mine is actually an Impact X upgraded to a MKII.

I don't know what all Ernest did to it, but I don't think it's maxed out. It's at 148bar so there's probably room to go higher power, but I'm not going to do that in 22 caliber.

I have a bunch of slugs already from 26 to 40gr to play with, but will likely stay with 28gr. If I go higher, it probably won't be more than 31gr.

This weekend I'll check the 28gr for accuracy at 150yds. When the weather warms up and the 200yd range opens, I'll check groups at that distance being I'll be trying for some long shots like that this summer.

It's going to be a little tough seeing slug .22 holes at 200y with the 5-20 SHV.
