FX Impact MKII 22 first groups w/ slugs

Bob,

Just woke up and it’s now that I see your post. Awesome!!! I see also you uploaded few clips, have to check them up. The gun looks magnificent.

I have to check the clips to see if you are having the same issue I had when changed to my Taipan, a bullpup, I needed a bit of time to get used to a shorter gun, coming from a regular rifle I had a bit of movement while taking aim and the groups where not the best, but with practice I overcome that.

I agree the groups are not bad but they could be better.... ohh but I also know..... if it where me, I will be so excited in a day like this that my smile will make me pull some shots

Thanks for sharing

Those are at 50 and 100 yards? I've seen impact with pellets do way better than that. Like one hole at 50 and leaf clover at 100. Those groups have spaces between each shots even at 50 yards. Not impress with slugs.

The 100yd group measured 0.96". I'll take that any day. It's possible the groups will improve after I tune for the weight, as these were doing close to 1k fps. But I don't need it to shoot tighter than what it just did.

Two of the benefits of shooting slugs are less wind drift and tighter groups beyond 100yds, which is primarily what I'm interested in. Pellets cannot hang with slugs in this caliber beyond 100yds in the wind.

It's okay if you're not impressed with slugs, lots of people aren't.

To complement what Bob says, Under no wind conditions, pellets are more accurate than slugs in the STX liners (up to 100 yards) no question about it. But with wind, slugs are king over 80 yards (or so). Other benefits are: slugs have more FPE (much more) than pellets in the kill zone, like some says, slugs are like an off switch on your target (instant kill) & the flight is straighter (less holds). Moa accuracy and even 2 moa accuracy is good enough for hunting, so if you hunt over 80 yards with wind, slugs are the way to go IMO. If not, stay with pellets, more accurate and cost effective.

Matt and the Air Hunters have shot half-moa at 100yds and beyond, so tighter groups are not out of the question.

But it's been said since last summer that a person should not expect hole-in-hole accuracy from slugs like you do with pellets. If you get that kind of performance, then that's just a bonus.

But right out of the box that's a dead house sparrow five out of five at 100yds. A person shoots slugs with hunting in mind, at least I do. And the energy retention at long range is important.

Hi Bob, before tuning down the speed try the 40gn they are the most accurate 50 to 200y plus in windy condition out of my slug liner, with deeper mag they still wont fit I have to mill the mag slot deeper.

Speed: 835 fps at 170b maybe close to 900.

the top hole was a sighter 3 click on windage and elevation 5 shot group.225y 10-15 mph winds, was at 50X just to see the sighter 😁

Just a comment on slug shooting in general and accuracy. Shot a little BR with a Panda PPC 6mm with custom bullets built for BR. Until you go up to 50x and get a bunch of wind flags out plus $300-$400 rest where you can slide the gun back to firing position "THE SLUGS ARE SHOOTING DAM GOOD". As are some of the new pellets. Look at the .22 BR with tuners and 2oz Jewel triggers plus rests and flags.
