FX Impact leak (yes another leak), X-ring in valvetube.

So my Impact is leaking from behind the powerwheel on the side, So 99% it´s the x-ring inside valvetube. I have changed it 3 times today and still leaking.

Cleaned inside the tube, the valverod looks fine, using blunt tool to seat the x-ring and also changed the 2 o-rings on the outside just for fun, but it still leaks.

It´s the old model with a small x-ring 2.9 x 1.78.

Can i mash a larger x-ring/o-ring into the tube i have, or will i have to replace the tube to the newer version which uses a larger o-ring?

Hi,

Please have a look at the valve stem, where the xring rides the rod, it can create a little flat spot on the rod that could theoretically cause your leak...

I have a gen 1 Impact, after about 40k pellets I got an FX re seal kit that came with a new valve stem, valve seal, delrin pucks and all the orings, except the xring, as this has been changed on newer models.

The two rings you changed on the outside of the valve tube are very easy to pinch when re inserting into the action, take extra care when installing this part.

I don’t think you need a new valve tube, also a bigger xring isn’t a solution as the sealing surface is the ID of the ring, so you need a ring with the same OD but marginally smaller ID.

newer impacts use an o ring instead of xring, the dimensions are different from the original x ring, but one could try to use an oring of the same size as the current x ring and see if that seals.

No problem there, It is a little bit shiny, and also dont have the number of pellets through it to make flatspots.

All the above is working fine, I have a Huma reg installed and it keeps the pressure when you remove the tank, so valveseat etc should be fine.

I have been careful and plenty of superlube while twisting slowly.

There are no Xrings around the real size. Can only find 1 that is 2.84, but way too thick.

I actually tried that, and that didnt work either.

What size oring is in the upgraded valvetube ? I think getting one of those is my best bet as it gets old real fast, Either that or a Daystate RW =)

I have the first valve tube fx put in the Impact also. There is an oring that will fit and works well. I actually found this out because I ran out of the xrings and was looking through what I had at hand. I found the oring in my shoebox compressor rebuild kit fitted perfectly . It has been in the gun and been reliable for 1000+ shots

It’s a harder compound and I’m guessing should be very durable since it was meant to go in the compressor. Made of white material. I don’t have its specifications. I have more of them in the other rebuild kits I have so will measure it ASAP.

I’m thinking it’s similar to the upgrade has made to the current xring/oring swap just smaller.

I had ordered the newer tube with the larger oring but hadn’t realised you also need a new larger retaining nut as it’s changed also. So until the old one fails I intend to keep using it.

Anyway none of that helps if I can’t give you the spec’s! It will be a while till I can check it. Someone may know the oring I’m referring to or it could be listed on the shoebox website.

You’ve probably already watched the FX USA youtube video Ernest put out, but if not, here it is. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tPfTClbmPKs. I had the same problem you have described until I cleaned up/ roughened up the valverod where it goes through the x-ring. It was too smooth to seal properly around 1:10 in the video. Hope this helps your situation but if not, i’d like to hear what you come up with. Tyler

I tried a viton oring 2.90x1.78 (original size) in Dura 90 so a little harder, but it also failed.

Good to know, if it comes down to a new tube i will make sure to get the nut aswell.

I will try to rough it up a litttle, it is pretty smooth right now.

Will post results.

You can buy a complete o ring kit on ebay.. I've had several problems with my 25. Finally started fixing it myself. If you do it right you'll have a great gun.

I have plenty of all the orings, (will never buy an Ebay overpriced "kit", when you can spend a little more and get 10+ kits worth of orings).

The only problems i have had since i got my Impact have been creeping/spiking regulator and the stupid x-ring.

Regulator got HUMAfied (still at 140bar after 2 days without bottle) so that leaves the valvetube to get fixed, i mean, FX changed the design for a reason, so cant be all my fault.

I know the xring is beeing seated correctly and without any force that would tear it. Waiting to hear from FX support, will prob be a few days.
