Fx Impact for everyone or not?

I read here and seems a lot of people say the impact is basically for the experienced. I just don't see why so many say this. Adjust the reg higher or lower if necessary, Adjust VST in or out, and the power wheel. Get the most consistent shot string and test for accuracy if it's not accurate enough tune for another speed.

If you ask me this gun has the most potential over all other guns. All the other guns you buy are gonna shoot one speed unless your gun has a power adjuster or you have a reg tester. If you wanna tweak the speed on most guns your gonna end up voiding the warranty.

The impact has a lot going on in it but don't over think it it's pretty simple. You have three possible adjustments. I guess if you have absolutely no idea how pcp's work then yeah it'll be a learning game. If your one of them people who know nothing do your homework learn the ins and outs and it's not too bad.

I have heard over and over the FX impact is one of the most complex PCPs made...
I do not own one and do not know anything other than what I heard,,,
I do no that IF I had one and there was a problem,
I would send it to a Tuner to fix it, Earnest would be my first choice,
Warranty or no Warranty I want it fixed right,
My two cents

I started PCP back in March and I have an Impact. I don't think it's that difficult. You can mess up the regulator if you don't read and follow the directions but all the other adjustments are very straight forward. Btw I love mine.
I learned everything I needed to know aboutthe FX Impact through reading this forum and watching YouTube videos while waiting six months for it to come in.

Have to agree with Frank2533 & 7deuce. Sure there have been some early gun issues that have been addressed but I can't understand why people say the 3 adjustments are so complicated. FX can't win, they produce a great gun that is very user friendly to make adjustments, then people (probably mostly non owners) carry on about it being too complicated. It's seems a case of FX being damned if they do, and damned if they don't.

Frank,

I said it was not for beginners because there are 5 ways mentioned in the owners manual to void your warranty plus disclaimers on what they can't tell you about how to adjust it in the owners manual. Unless one is an experienced air gunner or really understand how it works, you can damage it by misusing the adjustments on the gun. Fixing an issue with the Impact yourself may not be simple (unless you are someone like Ernest) and can void your warranty. My new Impact need $1400 of repair (covered under warranty) so you definitely don't want to void it.

Ross,

All the current inventory at AoA will need no limit rings to fix the barrel to scope rail alignment issue. Current regulators are doing 30fps spread over 1 magazine on some settings. I'm not anti FX - I have a FX Ranchero that is awesome - but the Impact still needs refined.

Yes, it is great (for experienced users) that FX took all the adjustments that are normally 'hidden' in the stock (and not documented) and exposed them. It's kind of like putting all the carburetor / fuel injector and spark timing adjustments on a driver's dashboard in a car. Yep, great for someone experienced in engine tuning. Not so great for the average driver who doesn't really understand how everything interacts in an engine. And yea, if you lean out the fuel in the car or adjust the timing too far forward trying to make the most power - and go too far - it can cause detonation and can ruin the engine. And doing that will not be covered under your car's warranty.

AoA did a great job of working on the gun, but there are still things they can't fix which is why I'm returning mine for a refund and ending my review of the gun and repairs today.

Regarding the impact, what is the point of offering groundbreaking outside regulator adjustment,if adjusting it voids your warranty ??
Is this just in the usa or worldwide??
Im lucky i jave been working on pcp,s for many years so its no prob for me,i have an impact on order ,coyld someone state from there instructions what the 5 warranty voids are please?
Rgds steve

NOTICE – NEVER adjust the power when rifle is cocked. Doing so might damage the power-adjuster wheel and will void your warranty

NOTICE – NEVER fire the airgun without air. Doing so may damage the valve assembly and will void your warranty!

NOTICE – NEVER turn the regulator adjustment screw CLOCKWISE under pressure. This will damage the regulator and will void your warranty!

NOTICE – NEVER adjust the regulator above 150 BAR as damage to the system may occur and will void your warranty!

NOTICE – NEVER adjust the regulator below 100 BAR as damage to the system may occur and will void your warranty!

No airgun is really for everyone. We all have our own needs and individual taste, knowledge and capability.

If a friend told me he was thinking of getting into airguns and asked me for a recommendation, I probably wouldn't suggest an FX Impact for a beginner.

For a start, the six month waiting list. It's one thing if you already have a collection of PCP rifles to use while you wait but I wouldn't want to go without anything for that long.

I am sure that anyone could acquire the necessary knowledge to use an FX Impact if they are prepared to do some research and watch some YouTube clips but, not everyone can be bothered for that. You have to be an enthusiast for it to be worth it.

I remember when I first got into PCP guns, it was enough of a challenge just to use a fill probe without leaks. I found all the terminology very confusing and I had no idea what a regulator was. That info might be here and on YouTube but I wouldn't have even known to look it up. I just wanted something to point and shoot.

The FX Impact has some great features but it's also very expensive. If you don't have a need for the extra features, the FX Wildcat or one of the other less expensive bullpups might be a better option for certain people.

Then there is the purpose. It's not a field target or BR gun so it's not ideal for those guys. It's a hunter / plinker for enthusiasts.

The Impact appeals to me and I intend to buy one at some point (if they ever have one in stock). If it was the first pcp gun I ever used, it probably would have put me off the hobby completely.

Vince_Diesel,

FX decided the priority for the fill probe (male foster fitting) was looks over function in version 1 of the gun. So, unless you had the fingers of a 10 year old, you need something like needle nose pliers or tweezers to remove the air tube from the gun. AoA eventually started including a kit that makes it a little easier to remove the air fill tube. It's basically a plastic fitting on the bottom of a male to female foster connector. Using it is fairly straight forward - the plastic makes it easier to pull down on the connector. When assembling (why AoA didn't assemble it is beyond me) make sure you slide the plastic from the male end toward the female end. Depending on the plastic fitting and your gun, you may need to trim the top of the plastic off (the section at the female end) in order to get the fitting to connect correctly to the gun. I had to trim mine.

Thank you sharrof.

Sounds like the Impact uses a Foster Fitting. I thought the post mentioned a Probe which is what other FX air rifles uses (i.e. Wildcat). I've never used a Probe type filling system and have to say that it looks intimidating, because it doesn't have a locking mechanism like the Foster does.

I assume you just stick in the probe to your rifle, fill it to desired capacity, bleed the air on the pump and pull out the probe. Easy, peasy?

I'm not new to airguns, but imho i don't think you have to be an expert to repair this gun, most of the problems with airguns are O-rings like any other pcp, this gun has way more o-rings than others and it can be a bit more complex but not impossible to take it apart and put back together, and thanks to Ernest there are a few videos that we can used to fix it.
