BLACK MAMBA: FX IMPACT "DETUNING" BenchRest 25y

Wow!, that surprising to me I thought you could get 900fps with 10.3’s but glad you Could get get it under 12ftlbs, is it Accurate at those speeds? my goal is 13.4’s at about 820fps?

Nice you have both large & small flags! I have just the small for 25m, they react really fast I never tried the wind meter I think they would very valuable? Should probably pick one up over the winter, still waiting for my 500mm barrel? Still experimenting with my friends! Weather not cooperating! 

Ok, just got word my impact in.22 just arrived pick it up mon.-tue, .177 barrel? I have the 600mm barrel in.22 friend of mine says he’s have good luck with jsb redesigns 13.4’s but pushing them to fast for HV, would have to shoot open!

Today I manage to make the mods and speed went up from 850 to 910, but accuracy with the jsb 10.3 gn is just not there. Test from 800 up to 910 no luck, groups over 1 inch @ 30yards. Next week I will get a bunch of other jsb in different weights for testing.

Wow. that's not encouraging... Have you polished the barrel yet? I was told about two years ago that the .177 STX barrel isn't that good. In fact, I was told that the older ST barrel was better in .177 than the newer STX. I currently have an .177 ST 500mm barrel that was modified to fit the FX Crown. Its "pretty" accurate, enough for Field Target, but not that great for 25M BR, as the best I've shot with it is in the 715 to 720 range. Maybe FX has improved the .177 since then, but I haven't heard so. Perhaps you'll need to shift to a .177 LW Polygonal barrel in your Impact for 25M?

Just out of curiosity have you tried under 800?

I’m taking a little different approach! My idea was to shoot in competition with a stock Impact (maybe some external add on’s for better control) in either .22 or .177 depending on ftlbs ?in 25m and 50yds Probably have to shoot open in both distances 13.4’s in 25m 18.1’s in 50yd don’t think the 600mm barrel will push the 25.4’s fast enough? (10.3 to light for me! Not good enough at reading conditions for those!)

I want to shoot the 25.4’s @ 50yd comp’s and in the past (out of RW anyway) you have to push them above 930fps to stabilize them quickly? I really want to shoot the redesigned 13.4’s in .177 but again have to push them so both comp’s would have to shoot open class! But both pellet weights I believe the FX barrel is well suited for this experiment?

 I'm not sure about the 50Y BR and how the rules and classes compare to 25M. But in 25M, Open Class is limited to 35 FPE. If you were to shoot the RD Monsters at an accurate speed, you would be WAY over the 35 FPE limit, and in fact be shooting Unlimited (which a lots of clubs don't recognize). I know at the Temecula CA Airgun Club, we don't allow anything above Open Class.

you do know that the 50 yard unlimited class for Air Rifle has been added for world competition and they still do not recognize our open class ?

Didn't know that.... Interesting. Shooting a 50 FPE gun is definitely an advantage. LD doesn't allow over 35 FPE at our monthly matches. He says he wants skill to win, not the matches turn into a power race...

Well, I guess I’ll have to shoot unlimited! Open or unlimited doesn’t really matter to me! I’m just playing around to see if it’s competitive either way “stock” Like I said in a earlier post 25m hv is where I normally shoot and I’m not very good at that! (And yes my club is a USARB sanctioned and recognizes unlimited classes in both disciplines)
