FX Impact deflated like a flat tire

My out-of-warranty FX Impact "deflated" itself with a slow audible leak in a matter of about 5-8 minutes. I could hear a very slow leak coming from the barrel at the transfer port with the rifle cocked or de-cocked. The reg pressure and tank pressure are now zero. I suspect the valve o-rings B-27 and B-28? Any suggestions?

Thank you.

I like your assessment, it could be the other side of b27, it’s seating surface could have cracked. How does the valve seat look at the back of the valve house, is it all flush?

Probably time for a full reseal, my series 1 developed a leak at A24, it was then that I knew that I had to probably change all the rings and clean the entire receiver, it was filthy.

If it is B27 then you are going to have to order a reseal kit from FX, or send it to Ernest if you don’t have the spares...

Thanks guys. I will contact Ernest for some tips on what to look for. I do not mind fixing it myself, I was about to put an Edgun digital gage on it anyway. It's over 2 years old and have not used it lately until last night. Will order the o-rings based on the attached list someone compiled a while ago.

Hello, Actually the master class videos are a bit scary, but fixing the impact is not so hard... I had a small problem and I had to disassembly and reassembly my impact like 5 times, I also contact Ernest (awesome support) and I could fix my impact (took me 2 days to figure it out) and it was the first time that I fix my Impact (busted bumper, unscrew valve seat, and the block was 44mm instead of 45mm wish make the transfer port not to be align with the pellet probe, and that was my mistake). But of course like I read somewhere, some people have the ability to fix others not.

Earnes did the FX Impact Master Class on YouTube. My Impact is also down, with a very slow regulator leak. I can shoot, but it's irritating when it won't hold air, so I've ordered parts from FX and will begin the adventure of rebuilding in a week or two. Family responsibilities keeping me from making progress right now, and parts won't ship till tomorrow.

If you call FX for parts, you can ask to have a tech call you back for consultation (they called back next day for me). He confirmed that my leak is the regulator, somewhere, so next project will be to put new o-rings through the entire regulator. There are several techniques to remove the Delrin regulator Post, the Master Class videos on the FX Channel cover that. AoA also has a Regulator Rebuild video with a different method to remove the regulator.

An O-Ring kit just for the regulator (if that's where the leak is) costs $10 plus shipping. The kit with the Regulator Post is $44. Get on the FX Web Site and download the Impact schematics with parts list if you haven't already done so. A full o-ring rebuild kit is $40 from FX, or if you look carefully, there's a British outfit that sells the kit out of Britain for $20 on eBay.

I ordered the o-ring kit with the regulator post, and a second 0-ring kit just for spares. with shipping was about $60 for parts, and next week, I should have some time to tear into the regulator.

Good luck, let us know how it goes.

I had the same problem on new impact x. With the pellet probe in you could put you finger over the end of barrel and feel pressure building. My fix was cleaning the valve and seat. My terminology may not be correct but you need to remove the valve housing to get to the valve seat. The other part is on the valve rod. I couldn't see anything but cleaned and put back together fixed the problem. You might want to try firing it several times to see if it will stop leak.

Just take pictures before/after taking apart any complex set of parts that may be confusing to put back together with your cell phone IMO to make reassembly easier...you will likely learn a lot about your rifle by performing the repairs yourself.

I don't own an impact but my assumption would be that the valve poppet or seat need to be cleaned/replaced, its really the only 'seal' that once broken will push air out through the barrel, all the other seals generally will force air in other odd places.

You can find new valve seats on google/ebay for the impact if you find yours is cracked or too worn, iirc they're around 20-30$.
