I have a fx impact that will not hold a Zero. My first 5 shots are a 2" group from the shots I made the night before. After those first 5 it will settle down and shoot a 1/4" group at 50yds but not the same zero that I left it at the day before. I know with my high caliber rifles I need to be sensitive with how fast I shoot to make sure I don't heat up the barrel. Do I need to do the same thing with an air gun? Or is there another reason my gun is reacting like this?

No, you don't need to worry about your barrel heating up with an airgun.
I guess you've checked that all your scope ring screws are tight?
Are these groups all with the same type of pellet?

Its most likely something simple. Have to be happy with a gun capable of 1/4 inch groups at 50 yds. The Impact has a power wheel, is it on the same power setting each time you shoot? The regulator has a knob is the knob in the same position each time you shoot?

Thanks for the feedback. I'm shooting pellets all from the same tin JSB 24gn. I do have a chronograph and there is very little deviation average is 865fps. How can I check my scope?

Short answer to that is shoot a group at 50 yards. Turn your elevation turret 20 clicks up, 40 down, and then 20 up. Shoot another group. That group should have same point of impact. Repeat with windage turret and shoot a group. This is the very short/simple answer. What make and model scope?

It may be due to barrel shift. There's a lot of O-rings and clamps on an Impact barrel; any of which could cause a small deviation - dependent on how you are storing the rifle.
A "box" test on the scope should reveal any problem; 20 up, 20 right, 20 down, 20 left.

Thanks for the help. I will give the box test a try tomorrow and see what happens. Is there a way rebuild the o rings and clamps if this is the problem. If so is it a DIY job or should I send it back to AOA?

Good point @ the power wheel. Mine was sloppy and turned if I just brushed up against it. I tightened-up the hex screw on the knob; now she's nice 'n crisp.

Another thought... are you cleaning your barrel after each session? If you are and if you are really giving it a good cleaning, stop and see if you have the same results.

Your barrel is floating on two o rings; it is not solidly attached to the receiver. The barrel can also moved based on how tight (or loose) the barrel clamp screw is set; loc tite that. Also, +1 on marcella69s observation. Check you variation in fps over 20 shots and let us know what you are getting.
