FX Impact caliber-kits for "rent"

I know...but just play along... Any other ideas why this would/would not work?

No, do not have any kits for rent, but some may be interested in renting a ..22, 25 or .30 or arrow kit (barrel, pellet probe only) just to try one out with their existing FX Impact. Hell, I may be interested in just trying out someone else's barrel only to see if it's more accurate than mine.

So what may be the show stoppers?

1. Damage to rented kit/barrel liability Solution: - third party holds a deposit equal to the replacement value of the kit?
2. Who would be a trusted third party? Solution: ???
3. Coming up with a deposit/collateral (For some this may be steep)
4. Shipping costs (Can add up)
5. Someone may like their rented kit so much they would be willing to forgo the deposit..so person renting out loses a good setup
6. Etc???

Yeah LW barrels TJ barrels benchmark green mountain etc etc. I'm not big on the FX st barrels. Every one I own is limited to JSB pellets no other pellet will stay under 2.5 inches at 50 yds. I literally have a tin of every pellet made trying to find another that works even close to jsb 18 in my st barrels. If someone has a spare probe to lend me I may be willing to make a few.

So, instead of getting an FX ST barrel for one of the missing calibers kits, try a LW barrel? I am not familiar with any barrel makers, can you give a quick and dirty on the options? What price range for example for a .25 barrel? Apparently, one needs to give them breech-side measurements/inlet configuration, barrel length, diameter...

I only have a .22 kit that came with my setup. I can send you my .22 pellet probe if it helps someone. I would need a .25.

Can I jump in on this thread?

I was thinking a lot about it....I own an FX Impact in .30 cal. I am searching for a used caliber change setup as we speak....but I got to thinking

lets go beyond the FX Impact in a sense....

What If we could do like a an airgun or airgun accessory lease? Something like own it, but receive some kind of "equity" if you can own and keep it in pristine condition. So the next guy can feel confident that it has been well taken care of. That way we can try many different rifles/accessories without having to keep it for long....Lets say something like 3-6 months or even 1 year. Own the gun/accessory, sell it for top dollar because its worth it, almost like vehicle lease....

I often trade and sell...seems like it might work if the agreement is good????

I dont know if this is what you were thinking...but either way....

Im just thinking...

@ASP....I think an existing airgun business would be a good third-party to act as the holder of the collateral. Or an airgun business may want to "rent" things out from their own stock. One thing to consider is having to figure out depreciation, normal use vs. abuse, liability, etc which I think is the big issue.

For me, if I have a good setup I am not sure if I would want to rent it out, unless I absolutely trust that person to take care of it. But there are some people I would consider a temporary swap with. Afterall, when you buy something from another individual here there is always a risk that item may not be what it was advertised, or it may never arrive to you. Thus with the right people or under the right circumstances it would be a good deal to be able try another caliber kit, barrel, scope, or even a gun.
