FX Impact - Pre Order and Delivery Related Questions

Steeve,

When did you make your pre-order? I put mine in on March 29...was told then I was in early, and that they would call me for deposit as delivery got closer. Sensing the imminent shipment of first batch, I called them last week to GIVE a deposit. I was told that they only took deposits from people in the first batch, and that I was not in that. Apparently a lot of the first batch is going out 10 guns at a time to dealers who pre-ordered in JANUARY. Has anyone gotten a straight story on what is going on???

Total confusion, mystery, and suspense... I may be forced to get a Wildcat to get me over until after New Year as my gateway drug....

Seems like FX would be the one to ask to get some concrete dates when the U.S. bound shipment will leave Sweden. If AOA keeps saying end of Oct or early Nov, or whatever their latest estimates are, to me it's obvious that the "large" shipment has not left FX yet, unless customs, etc processing times are causing a (unpredictable) delay.

The impression I got when talking last month with AOA was that a large shipment is coming, closely followed by another large shipment within a month. I signed up in early October and was told that there is a good chance that my order is filled from the first shipment, but surely from the second. Now some are talking about the New Year..etc. I can imagine the agony of those who signed up back in January-March.

Just to add to the confusion / frustration...I e-mailed FX in April asking for specs on the Impact. Got a quick response from an individual named Johan who said he couldn't release any information, but if I contacted him in May he could tell me everything. Since then, there has been ZERO response from my numerous follow-ups. Somebody is doing a pretty good job of trying to get me dis-interested in this air gun. WTF?

This is the kind of BS that is really annoying me! How can I place an order in March and not be in the first shipment, yet AOA is telling you there is a "good chance" your October order will be in first shipment? I don't mind waiting, I just wish FX and AOA would be up front about what is going on!

First post here!

I put my Impact order in middle october from Hurricane Luftvapen in Sweden on a .25. Called them today and got some news.

I was also told that the .25 barrel shroud atleast here in Sweden will be fully extended and not telescopic because of law issues. As export i do not know.

The slight increase regarding price is because of the added plastic guncase and a jumbo mag instead of the older smaller one first intended to come with the Impact.

.30 barrel require a gun license in Sweden and i knew that, but lets say i want to add a .22 for a second barrel. License needed for a barrel bought without the gun body. Thats just bizzare law wise regarding this very rifle because i could buy complete .22 and .25 and loophole it anyways.

Anyway, i placed my order early and will get one of the very first .25 on the Swedish market within a few weeks.

This will be my first pcp gun so i have a question. Pumping as high as 240 Bar or more, should i get the four stage geared Fx handpump or would the 3 stage Fx one do?

Having worked in the quality improvement field for almost 4 decades, I decided long ago that the only way I can truly make a statement on quality is with my pocketbook. I placed my order within 30 minutes of the posting of a price on the AOA site and was given a prospective delivery date of June/July. Of course I've heard nothing (minimal quality standards would dictate regular updates from the manufacturer and distributor). Rifles obviously have arrived and have been distributed by some mysterious process the "good ole boys" at AOA know but are unwilling to share with mere customers. Specs on the rifles being reviewed, like those of the Wildcat, do not match the specs originally posted so that I now have no faith in what I read either from the manufacturer or the distributor. So I cast my vote: I will not be purchasing an FX product now or ever (guess everyone who is in line may now move up a notch), and whenever possible, will purchase future airgun products from another distributor.

The positive side of this whole process (aside from not spending $2000 of my hard-earned dollars) is that I've spent less than half that amount and upgraded two of my current airguns so that they are filling the niches I envisioned for the Impact. :)

Are you saying that you will not support FX or AoA because a.) FX hasn't delivered the rifles in the amount of time you expected, or b.) AoA took your deposit and you are upset that they can't sell you a product that they don't have in stock yet, or c.) you're just upset that AoA hasn't sent you regular updates regarding the anticipated arrival of the Impact?

The numbers change because the products usually go through some changes between IWA and full production. Which is why you can never rely on any numbers until the product is in full production.

Historically speaking (at least the last few years), FX has been introducing their concept products at the IWA in Germany, then they bring a few with them to EBR in Arizona, then they make the product available to the public shortly thereafter.

I was at Airguns of Arizona when FX arrived with a few boxes of parts and started putting the Impacts together. As far as I know there are only 6 Impacts in the US at this time. Fredrik raffled off 2 units at the EBR banquet, left one with AoA, gave one to Ted, one to myself, & another to the "Wildcat" Tominco. I assume this was a strategic move to try and get some publicity. These were all "pre-production" rifles and we are essentially the guinea pigs on the farm.

Bottom line... the Impact is so complex (yet simple to use) that it is taking FX longer than expected to bring it to market. The last thing they want to do is release a new product that hasn't been thoroughly tested.

On another note please share with us (in a separate topic) how you upgraded your other two rifles to fill the niche.

Thx

When I talked to the AOA rep and placed my deposit about a week ago now(see previous post for exact date), I was told that they had never promised gun deliveries before the first part of November,(about now). the June/July/October dates as mentioned here and on other forums were never promised or suggested by them. I can only assume those dates were quoted by other dealers. I am getting used to waiting on air gun lists; I don't know what it is with air gun builders, but none of them that I have tried to get guns from, ever seem to have what I want in stock. (XP .72, over 3 years, Jack Haley .257 & .50, 2 years, Quackenbush .50, 3 years, Inovairtech .257 or .308 large cartridge, 8 months, and so far, nothing. So another couple months wait for the FX isn't a big deal.
I was also told by AOA that My deposit would not get me on the list for this months or Decembers deliveries, and that mine would come after the first of the year....When I pressed for a more exact date, by asking if that meant January, they said "hopefully" . I have come to the conclusion that they do not know when they will actually be able to ship guns, but are just guessing. I see some here have had to put up 500$ deposits earlier on, but AOA only required a 200$ deposit from me last week. If it comes with one of those cheap universal gun cases, instead of the advertised take-down case, I will definitely be pi$$ed. Also, it is unclear whether or not the rifle comes with a scope as pictured in the video with the take-down case. For the quoted 1899$ price I was quoted, I think it should, considering the 600$ difference in price between the Impact, & Wildcat.
If the Impact proves not up to the hype and my expectations, I will sell it and get a Daystate 303 Hi-Lite, but if the gun shoots as well as I am hoping, I will keep it and implement a list of mods I have planned. I will then sell my other guns except my first, a Sheridan pump that I got for my 10th birthday in 1956. The Impact should do everything that any of my other guns were able to do, and then some.

Correct me if I am wrong but one of a kind and guns such as .50 and other "exotic" calibers will always have a long wait line. I believe that the FX Impact, albeit exotic, is a regular mass production gun by a well-known mass production manufacturer.

I do not think AOA "promised" anyone a delivery date, as that's impossible without knowing if anything was shipped from FX. But I can confirm that they were "expecting" shipments in late Oct and early Nov. I can certainly speak for myself that AOA's "lawyer-speak" concerning expected delivery date estimates was never a certainty and I doubt many interpreted it as such. However, when estimated delivery dates are floating around by the only authorized importer for a highly anticipated product while the manufacturer seems to remain quiet about anticipated delays, I would say there is a publicity problem. Having Tesla slip on their next model-unveil in March 2016 would lead to dire consequences for their stock. So Tesla needs to manage expectations. Those of us in the wait line are "stock-holders" in a product and a company we all admire. Yes, FX is not a company on the scale of Tesla but it caters to a hard-core and enthusiastic niche that would appreciate some updates, some real ground truth for a very highly anticipated product. If planned deliveries slipped by six months...let us know, we are big boys and girls and we can take it and understand it. When you build a clientele this size you must manage expectations.
