FX IMPACT. 25 VS .30 700MM BARRELS

Has anyone tested these two platforms against each other for accuracy between .25 34gr vs .30 45gr pellets. I'm trying to determine if they are equal in accuracy or the heavier .30 wins out before a purchase. This is at 80y to 100y. Presently I can shoot a wildcat .30 700mm barrel at 80y at .47". All my 600mm stuff is .75 at 80y and 1.5" at 100y on a great day. My bro will be ordering a impact soon and we wondered.

Thank's for any information :

I can't give any hard facts on the 700mm but I just put a 600 kit from a Impact on my Royale that was originally a 25cal. I've had a few groups at under .5" at 80yd but more often closer to .75" with the Heavies.

I haven't had any good opportunities yet to test the accuracy of the 30 vs the 25 at the same velocities due to the winds. One thing I did notice in Strelok and Chairgun is that the 25 shows over an inch less drift at 100yds with a 10mph, 90 degree wind. 7" vs 8.4". So the opportunity is there for the 25's to be more accurate in this respect. Hopefully though the 30cal will win out in the end regardless.

Jk

Ok, hmm, I guess I don’t completely understand your particular scenario but if you want the best accuracy up to but not necessarily past 100yds, I would say .30cal is the better choice especially if you want that thing to slow down and drop as quickly as possible beyond that and the drag on the skirt of a pellet, especially a big pellet with a lot of resistance to aerodynamics, .30 is great.

As as far as “not possible, requires extreme mod(ifications)” goes, that’s what I’m doing with my $600 gun.... I hope your $2000 gun could do it

Yes Jeff my question is one I pretty much new answers but the most focus was on the .25 heavies accuracy through a 700mm barrel. I have been a .25 shooter for years and I start testing a .30 and wonder if just going with the .30 is the way. Concerning slugs I am very aware of them but I will use other people's testing till next year before I include slugs to my stable. I do focus on lots of ground vermin at farms but I like to pull up and clean a barn roof of pest bird without the worries of my backdrop. Thank's for your imput and it will be considered at slug time.

Yeah you can put any impact or crown barrel into a Boss provided you use the crown barrel inlet (or modify impact one). And take the diameter from 14mm to 13.7 or so. .177, .22 and .25 use probe/delrin guide from Royale series. Mags from Royale can work too but need about 2 thicknesses of electrical tape below mag to make up height difference.

Oh but crown shrouded barrels might have an issue with air tank but impact ones work forsure.
