FX Heebie-Jeebies

According to FX Airgun's website, production of the FX Wildcat was to begin in March. The Wildcat was exhibited at IWA 2015 and several sellers have been taking orders for the new airgun. But, FX has not published final specifications for the Wildcat on its website. Is anybody else frustrated that Wildcat specs haven't been released by FX?

"Beach-gunner"Splat....see Beagle02's post "wildcat specs" posted on 4-5.

I assure you, that spec sheet is wrong. It matches up perfectly with the Bobcat models.
.

The WildCat's air cylinder is smaller (more narrow) than the Bobcat - both in .22 and .25. The final specs are not yet out. But, I did learn at IWA that both calibers were shooting at 900fps - so, I'm confident that the guns are not "under powered". As for the more specific details....I have none.

But, if you want my Educated GUESSES, here they are:

WildCat .22
  • 230cc cylinder
  • 50-60 shots @ 32fpe
WildCat .25
  • 350cc cylinder
  • 60-70 shots @ 47fpe
Feel free to bookmark this page, and come back to it and give me praise or criticism re: the accuracy of my educated guesses. :)

"DaveG"with the fact that airgunners seem to have an almost insatiable appetite for instant results, I think it would be best for manufacturers to just keep their mouths shut about new product till it is delivered to the dealer... Very difficult to 'win' or 'do it right' in this environment ;-)
Couldn't agree more Dave!!
But this is not limited to airgunners.
Here's a case study: Long ago I edited/published an RC helicopter magazine .... Mfgrs in that niche were notorious for announcing new stuff a year ahead of release. I'd typically get samples to burn (some weren't even production) for review. Then lots of reader's letters/emails being frustrated with reading about a machine or part they couldn't buy right away. Then I'd get accused of being in bed with mfgrs and street cred suffered. I couldn't blame the readers as it pissed me off as well. I'd always mention this conundrum to the distribution guys, sadly to little effect. I finally resigned our edit staff to equipment the mag bought right at release date. This wasn't a great strategy either as timing was always a bone.... Still is!
I don't think it ever occurred to the marketing boobs that the irritation over delays only made any problems or design flaws all that much worse. Shutting up until there's parts in hand would be the solution.

"17bullet"You just have the FX “Heebie-Jeebies” from waiting so long. Relax it will turn into “Goose Bumps” in a few more days.

17: You're right. I do have the FX Heebie-Jeebies! I'm foaming at the mouth waiting for the FX Wildcat and Impact.

DaveG and E30: I like it that manufacturers give us a glimpse of upcoming products. That allows me to decide whether I want to buy a product available now or wait for a newly announced product. Think about car shows where they announce new car models - I wouldn't want to see that go away. My expressed frustration was about undisclosed specifications for the Wildcat. I can wait and withstand the Heebie-Jeebies. (I'm looking forward to the goosebumps).
