You know, I thought, I have nothing to lose here, If it's broke, it's broke...It will take 5-7 days for the replacement parts to get here so why not try to fix it?
I was doing some chrony work a few nights ago and was loging my ending string pressures and out of nowhere I noticed my fill going down at a rate of 1-2bar every few minutes ,Bummer. I gave it a dry fire to see if that changed anything, nope. After I turned off the music I could hear air leaking from the barrel. I fired off an email to FX that night and had a response from Melissa (thank you) in the morning. I responded and she suggested I talk to Kendall and see whats up. He called me back in 10 minutes. I described what was going on and we agreed it was the Valve pin and Seat. FX USA would send me out both at no charge. Customer service at it's finest!! Thank you FX USA and Kendall
Since I was taking it apart I thought I would look at the Regulator and the Fill Port O-rings too. Cleaned out a burr in the fill port screw and re-assembled, no biggy. Unscrewed the two pieces of the Regulator, took out the 10 disks and cleaned each one along with the plastic shaft that holds the disks, it has an O-ring to.There is an off-set hole in this piece of plastic, on the inside of the regulator that is .013 and it had a little burr inside. I happen to have a .013 drill bit to deburr it!!!. Put it back together and it seems to hold the regulator pressure more stable then previously after adjustments. I did not take apart the section that has the regulator adjustment screw in it. I thought that needed more of my attention than I had to offer. There is a YouTube by AIRGUNNERS EDGE that will walk you through it.
I then proceeded to solve the Delrin bushing and the Valve seat problem. Sometimes the extra attention to detail just makes a difference.
First I buffed the Delrin beveled edge perimeter with a cloth wheel on low for just a few seconds, you don't want to change any angles or diameters, just clean it up. Next I used the cone shaped buff wheel and hit the Valve Seat 5-6 times in and out to "polish" the race. Checked, cleaned and lubed the O-ring on the Seat and also reversed it for a new seal surface.
Re-cleaned the breach areas with Qtips and air, put it all back together, filled her to 220b for an overnight test and it passed!!! I then put 7 test shots through it earlier today and it has held the ending PSI since . Happy camper I am so far.
One caveat with the Valve Pin is the tiny O-ring can get nicked when sliding it into it's bore hole. Be very careful and make sure it is perpendicular to it when assembling.Oops!
I can now try out the .25 FX Hybrid Slugs I got in the mail the day it dumped air
Just what I did to solve my problem. Hope this helps some.
Be safe. Shoot straight.
