FX dreamline power plenum

I have received the dreamline plenum today. Now I must wait until FX sold the narrow shroud because with the wide original shroud this cannot be fitted. I am thinking to make a carbon fibre shroud becuause there is no notice when would be avaliable the FX shroud. Some pics

Do you mean that it will not fit on the Dreamline with the 20mm shroud?. That's a very big surprise to me. I thought that the power plenum external diameter was exactly the same as the air reservoir tube. What's your shroud diameter?. Will you confirm it please?.

With the 20mm shroud there is no problem to fit the plenum. The problem it's with the shroud of the compact because it's more thick. (I have not the gun with me in this moment so I can't measure the shroud in the thick side but I think that must measure 35-40mm)

The compact has a thick shroud and if you fit the plenum, the bottle adaptor hit the shroud.

I have bought a carbon fibre tube of 20mm to change the OE thick shroud with them. If I could change the shroud I could fit the plenum and a 60mm air bottle.

The shroud of the compact sucks!!! The head of the engineer that devised that shroud should roll.

This it's a pic of another user where you can see the thick side of the shroud.

Where the shroud joins with the body of the gun it's 20mm but the rest it's more thick. Sucks.

You can compare in the pic below the 20mm long barrel and the shroud of the compact unmounted. Seems twice as thick.

I don’t see a diameter issue on the tactical compact because as noted the plenum is the same diameter as the stock aluminum air canister which obviously clears the stock barrel shroud.

The potential issue seems to be the added stacked length of the plenum. On the 22 cal this would put the end of the canister about even with the end of the barrel which may prevent a moderator from being screwed on (if the canister is slightly forward of the barrel)

This should not be an issue with the 25 cal with its longer barrel.

I was leaning toward the 22 cal due to wanting 900 FPS, but I’m now leaning toward the 25 cal now that the power plenum is available in addition to the issue with the 22 cal and moderator fitament just noted IF true,

Hoping for pics of both 22 and 25 cal with plenum and moderators on this forum hopefully soon.

No, plenum cant be fitted with the oe shroud to the compact. The upper side of the bottle adapter hit the shorud. You can see it in the upper picture. It´s confirmed by FX. Cant be fitted withouth change the shroud. You need a 20mm shroud to fit the plenum to the compact.

The shroud need to be bigger, thicker, because the barrel is so short

Even as is, the 380mm on the .25 compact is very loud without a suppressor. It definitely rings your ear after a few shots.

No, I thinks this it´s not the problem. The barrel it´s shorter than the shroud, and there is FX shrouds with silencer in the end el the shroud. And if this was the problem, the same problem would be with the 500/600 barrel.

The shroud of the compact don't silence anything. I have tried to shoot without the shroud and there is no big difference in sound. Yes it´s loud with or without the shroud. I could understand the thick shroud if in the inner would be a silencer, but this it´s not the case.

Yes, the new plenum adapter adds 17cc to the total volume. My question is, do we know the total plenum volume with the new adapter? 17cc+Xcc=?cc.

I thought the standard DLT Compact .25 barrel was 480mm?

the way that shroud work is to "strip" air away from the muzzle of the barrel
Namely, it redirect air which come out of the barrel, backward within the shroud, before leaving the shroud opening
For the longer barrel, the entire length of the shroud is longer, hence the entire volume within the shroud is larger, allowing air to travel back a longer distance before existing the shroud opening, dampening the noise

Hajimoto has a nice vid explaining that: https://youtu.be/2YAfCwNBubw

But in the case of the compact, because the barrel so so short, it would make sense to enlarge the shroud volume to trap more air. Whether or not it is effective is a different matter.

Although i bet you that, with the shroud on, it will be quieter than without. Try measuring it with a decibel meter.

I completely see your point about the compact being loud with or without the shroud, and agree that the thicker shroud is not a good compromise to make when it causes so many issues with compatibility like can't fit a bottle, can't fit a plenum, etc

unfortunately, it is only 380 for the 25
300mm for the 177 and 22

I have tried to shot mine with a carbon fibre shroud (20mmx17mm), the same length, and it´s more silent that the OE shroud. I have not measured with a db meter but it´s appreciable less sound with the CF shroud, more thin than OE. .

I have fitted the plenum, but with the OE shroud -mine it´s .22- the bottle protrudes from the shroud, so must be fitted a longer shroud, 3 cm or so, because the plenum ad 26,86mm to the bottle length (see pics below)

nice. did you made that CF shroud yourself?

Yes, it´s easy. The most difficult part was dismantle the barrel guide. It's hard glued and you need hot warm it with a blowtorch or hot gun to glow the glue.

Below a pic of the end of the shroud. I have bought a CF bottle with 350cc (22mm long, 60mm width), so I'll enlarge the shroud 22mm for the bottle and 27mm for the plenum, and I'll fit in the end of the shroud the inner of a weihrauch silencer. So I have solved all the problems, sound and air capacity. With a 20mm shroud you can fit a 61mm width bottle.

I have had to buy two ends of a dreamline 500mm barrel that I have not received yet. When I had all fitted I'll post pics.

it is only 380 for the 25

300mm for the 177 and 22

According to Utah Airguns the .177 and .22 are 380mm and .25 is 480mm.

The reason why this wasn't brought about before was it wasn't in the plans until recently is my guess. Why would they design guns that wouldn't work with this, like the Compacts and classics, if it was in the plans already?
