FX Crown/Impact regulator mod tutorial

"mag_de_mars"Hello everyone,
can someone give me the dimensions of the belleville washers please. outside diameter and central hole.
I could take them myself but if I can avoid disassembly it would be super nice
thank you in advance
Thierry

I have a few spares.
Just pulled one out of the bag and it measures .313 od. and .165 id.

Sorry guys, I'm not really active on the forums lately, hence my late reply. :)

@hegshen Erik, I turned a washer to fit the piston to prevent that the hardened BV washers dig into the soft Delrin, this could have influence on how the regulator acts.
It is basically meant to divide the force of the BV washers over a bigger surface. But any fitting flat metal washer should be able to do the trick.

@mag_de_mars The size of the BV washers in my (ex)Crown is 8x4.2x0.4mm, but from what I have heard the latest models have thicker BV washers to tackle the >150bar creep issue

@sagaris James, hard to tell from a distance, but I also assume that something is wrong with the rifle. Is the breech o-ring still there? Is the valve adjuster screw all the way out?
Is the power wheel at max?

cheers,

Gijs

"Sagaris"Hi mate,
the breech seal is there. The power is on max and I had the valve screwed all the way in nearly. I just can’t understand what’s causing it to not work at anything over 110bar. It was a sub 12ftlbs rifle coverted but I put all the parts in from my other fac Impact and got the fac Belleville washers for this one too
(Un)fortunately, I'm in the lucky position not to have experience with sub 12ft-lbs guns ;)
But... just thinking out loud, how big is the transfer port of the sub 12 barrel?
Could well be that that it is restricted by a tiny port. Or has it shot on full power before your issue occured?
Or is it just impossible to adjust the reg up to, let's say, 150 bar?

Does the sub 12 have a smaller diameter valve seat???

Ok so since I’m using the .30 barrel it comesin fac only so that’s definatly ok. I have changed the two brass rods the make a bigger air pocket in the housing. The hammer spring. The Belleville washers and the valve adjuster. I had a spare valve rod but when I compared the length with the one I’m my Impact x it was the same. The rifle is fine upto say 110-115 bar but once I go above that on the reg gauge something is happening in the rifle. I pull the trigger and it fires like there is no air in the rifle. Then I hear a little bit of air going through the transfer port.
It would be nice if fx actually released the impact x diagram and parts list because there is a few different parts in it compared to the impact.

A24 x2 brass adaptors are the parts I’m refering too. The sub 12 has longer adaptors. I have noticed my valve rod has a derlin washer and a brass spacer at the seat area which is different to my old Impact. The old one only had a nylon spacer. Most of the rifle is the same but there are small changes here and there. I wish they would bring a Impact x diagram out because some of the internal parts have been changed slightly and I need the part numbers to order. Fx are not the easiest to get a reply out of either. The derlin washer next to the brass spacer crushed when I upped the pressure to 150 bar and let all the air straight from my bottle out the barrel end till it was empty. I don’t know how it caused that but something isn’t right.

The length of A24 makes no difference. They are just plugs. Between them is a drill hole that bring unregulated air from the bottle to the regulator. Changing them does nothing.
The changes have been taking place of the development of the Impact and none of them are specific to the Impact x.
I can’t think of anything else that might help at the moment. If it works as it should at 110 bar and below it just sounds like you haven’t got the power to open the valve when the regulator pressure rises.
Frustrating..
Maybe shoot Ernest an Email

Reading this, it indeed looks like valve lock due to too high regulator pressure like Michael said.
The gauges of a Impact can't be trust, mine was off 50(!)bar...... 'nuff said....
To approach things a different way, what speed are you getting with lower reg. pressure according your gauge?
Another possibility is that your pellet probe is misaligned.
But now I am cooperating to derail my own thread :)

A24 is not related just to the impact x but Oscar at fx told me I needed the shorter ones for full power. He said the longer adaptotors are for sub12 ftlb only and that the full power versions use shorter adaptors. I’m only going off what he said but they are a lot shorter on the full power version and it’s part of the kit in the uk that allows you to change the power from sub 12 to fac. Cheers

Thanks weatherby, ok so I have some news from fx. They are telling me I have the wrong valve pin and need a different one to allow the rifle to go above 100 bar so it hopefully sounds like I’m getting somewhere.

Can anybody get the parts below below for me and send to the uk if I pay through PayPal?

Valve rod with valve pin complete
valve seat
Hammer seat

its hard to get the parts in the uk because our importer never has anything in stock

thanks

Hello all
i have changed the belleville washer inside the regulator, i put 0.3 mm washer in place of 0.20 i keep the same stack than weatherby and put regulator at 150 bar
valve set to 4 the result is : 890 fps 889 m/s on one charger

the pressure up by 5 bar after one night stock. the stack is 8.5mm long

after first shot pressure is stable to 150 bars on all string
