Can you use the .25 shroud with the .22 endcap just to get a longer shroud/better noise reduction without having to extend the shroud if you used the supplied .22 shroud??

Should work theoretically I'd say.
Only difference is barrel length and stripper/endcap inner diameter, so it will give you more volume at the muzzle, even when not extended.
Only thing what will be harder is to install the barrel, as the 500mm barrel will fully slide into the longer shroud when you are going to mount it in the action.
You can easily overcome this by placing the shroud after placing the barrel first.
