Tuning FX Crown reseal, extra o ring below reg piston?

Doing a reseal on a friend's crown that developed a small leak at the regulator vent hole and found what appears to be an extra o ring in the action below the reg piston.

Pictures show where I found it and how it would sit, it was down in the counterbore in the action for the reg piston, and sits against the reg piston face.

I don't see any mention of an o ring here in the FX schematics or in the instructions for the Huma reg.

Can anyone confirm that o ring is not supposed to be there? Thanks!

EDIT:

Looked at things some more and no, that o-ring was never meant to be there. The regulator piston is made to seal to the action with the o-ring in the groove of the piston so the piston can move up and down in the bore in the action, not via that extra o-ring sitting against the face of the piston. My guess is the previous owner of the rifle might have put it there for some reason (the previous owner had also used teflon tape everywhere instead of replacing o-rings, and little bits of teflon tape had migrated into the regulator and valve and really messed things up.) I must have missed that o-ring hiding in the action at the bottom of the reg piston counterbore when I was going through the rifle and cleaning out all the teflon tape.

Before, the regulator screw was always up very high and nearly flush with the regulator body, now it's down a few turns below flush. After removing that o-ring I was able to add the correct amount of belleville washers to the stack on the piston shaft-- previously the regulator was missing 2 washers because the added thickness of the o-ring under the piston raised the piston up and didn't leave enough room for the proper amount of belleville washers.

Also, the small leak wasn't any of the regulator adjuster o-rings or the piston o-ring, but rather the captive o-ring in the action that seals the bottom of the regulator body OD to the action.
