FX Crown - finally sorted

Don't forget, they just had a hurricane go right over their facility. I bet they aren't back to normal yet. I wouldn't be too hasty judging the Crown. I have one and know several people who do. It is a fantastic gun. There may be something wrong with it but FX will make it right.

BTW, Did you clean the barrel when you got it? Have you changed the reg pressure?

thanks crusher,i talked to fx today & guy named newman said they would make it right,i got a email from fx also and they said i should have pressed option 1 not 2 to speak to someone alive.all i heard on my cheap flip phone was press 2. tks to you and all the others...we will see.

allenbowles,

Now that you've made contact with Newman, I can't wait to hear what happens from here on out. My guess is that you'll be just as thrilled and satisfied as I am with FX USA.

I've got one of those old flip phones too. But I always press option 1, and I always get Newman. Then I get results!

What a comedy of errors! But if you'll be patient, ole Newman will whip that Crown into shape and you'll be laughing at your first assessment of FX USA.

thanks for reply; i am sorry, but i paid big money for this fx crown, just not to have this problem.this should have been taken care of the first week, they got my money with in minutes.it has been over a month & still i do not have a gun that shoots half as well as my 300 dollar .177..sorry again, i do not want to be out of line..but i am a big fan of customer service..in my opinion this should of been taken care of over-nite & over-with..tks

We were willing to replace the gun apart from the stock, which had been modified, but since you were having trouble getting through to FX USA because of their flood problems we are willing to pay for you to return it and have it tested and serviced/replaced. Email us and we can send you out a packing slip if you would like to go that route.

i just call fx,got voice-mail,now it says it is full. i watched all the vids i could & have tryed most of them,(thats why i had the bi-pod installed) it is a .177 cal. i have been shooting a air arms springer .177 for years & have seen about everything go crazy..i thought i would get a high dollar gun & sit on back porch & enjoy being retired.i have turned every knob on this thing several times. i am on my third roll of paper in the chrony printer. shooting best are jsb 10.34 , air arms 10.3 & h&n 10.65 @ about 910fps -es.under 10 sd 3-4...tryed jsb 8.4s & several other pellets. have shot over 2500 times.. will not shot near as well as my air arms springer or my umarex g. pcp. also have switched 3 different high dollar scopes that shoot fine on my other guns.. thanks very much for your interest..worst part is FX customer service --i got more from you guys in 24 hrs. than from them in 3 weeks tks

Hidden within this post is probably the answer to the problem....." I have turned every knob on this thing several times "

Unless you know what turning the knobs will net you , you are not tuning your gun you are in fact de tuning your gun. I don't know this fellow or how much experience he has to tune an FX Crown but I hear his frustration. More than likely if the barrel had been cleaned before the knob turning started his issues would have been solved. Once the knob turning starts most guys just get farther and farther away from what they EXPECT. Second problem with people buying these guns is what they expect the gun will do for THEIR accuracy. Just because I bought an Impact likeTed's, didn't make me shoot like Ted. I still shoot like me just with a gun like Ted's. Love to know how many of these guns just go back get readjusted and sent back to the customer because there really is no issue? I feel for Daystate and their electronic gun....allowing people to buy a tuning tool to really screwed them up.As far as customer service, I think FX is one of the better companies in the market. Just imagine the back log of guns that come back from customers that have no clue. Then they jump right on the forums to share their misery . I liken it to a customer of mine that treated himself to a new Corvette and had it back to the dealership in a month saying it was not tuned right and wasn't making the kinda power he "thought" it should have.Car tested fine. When pressed for his reasons for continual complaints it turned out he couldn't "light the tires up". Then he was informed about his cars traction control. Proving it's what you don't know, most of the time. Sounds to me like Airgun Depot is willing to help as best they should. Can't just return a gun that you modified the stock on. Again, jumping on the forums to bad mouth another reputable company helps no one. A little patience would have gone along way on this one.

i did not adjust anything until i was certain the gun was not right.i know i am not as smart as the mfg.but a 2000 dollar gun should not need to be tuned,i cleaned the barrel while i was waiting on the bi-pod install. i have a airarms mkiii springer & umarex gauntlet pcp both .177 that shoot 1/2 inch groups.i have been shooting air guns for years, at almost 70 i can still shoot 1/2 inch groups @ 40yds with all my low end guns.each time i shot the fx i shot my other guns with same pellets & conditions,,when you have done all you can & are told its the wind, how much respect do you give??.. tks

Allen, it seems both your other rifles have adequate QC, some folks seem to love FX (in the days of old they did have outstanding quality and some of the most accurate rifles).Umarex standards

On the gauntlet, production was right on schedule however after delivery to the U.S. QC was found to be lacking, they held every rifle until they could be brought up to Umarex's standards ( whatever standard they think a $300 rifle should be up to) and 99+ % of the delivered rifles work as intended out of the box ( and yes the trigger needs adjustment to be good but works as is). FX simple does not use the same business model.

Skip the latest greatest most advertised promoted airguns and go with known reliability and service ( which should never be needed) . AA makes rifles that are fine from the box and seemingly wont even need an oring for 10+ years ( except perhaps the barrel/breech oring). Had several Career rifles that functioned without issue for 15+ years, just fill & shoot. I've had over 15 crosman's and one 1 ( one) had an issue, bad barrel, crosman's response was to offer me, either free return shipment & replacement or they would send a free barrel asap, nice.

Any mechanical device can fail/have issues. Make 100,000 items on an assembly line and some number of those just wont be right. But FX is straight up designing & marketing without sufficient testing but as they can still sell them and make money in the short run why not.

LOVE the old high quailty FX rigs, wouldnt recommend a new model to someone I didn't like, just not a nice thing to do.

Now for a bored tinkerer in the 6 figure salary range I think perhaps an Impact is THE airgun to purchase, just not for the vaerage shooter who just wants to shoot.

PLENTY of airguns at half the price with n o issues that shoot just as well.

Where are your closest airgunners you can test drive rigs with? Buy something face to face after trying it and you will always be happy with your purchase.

up date ; received barrel kit from fxusa on saturday,i have shot over 200 times.it is a 75 to 80% improvement over the orignal.i was told,,they shot all 9 of the barrels they had in stock & this was the best one,, (1 inch was the best they got @ 45yds.) i got a little better, fxusa seems concerned with the .177 barrels & have made sweden aware of the problems,i have been told i will get a better barrel as soon as possible.that is all i can ask & is all i wanted 6 weeks ago....time will tell...thanks fxusa & all the folks at airgun nation..
