FX Crown continuum thoughts...

I been trying to find some info on the crown continuum. I’ve only came across a few videos of the gun in action and reviews. Who has one? How quiet is it with a sumo? What is the shot count? I like compact and quiet, I’ve had time with a friend dreamtac compact in .25 and it is the quietest.25 I’ve ever shot. Really liking the short barrel on the continuum and the large capacity mags of the FX mags are very tempting. The impact has left my radar has that high o-ring count scares me otherwise I’d be all over that compact when it become available.

I've got a 22, and with a proper moderator it is extremely quiet. I don't have any donny moderators. I use huma and/or a customized factory FX continuum moderator. The action is probably 5x quieter than my hatsan nova star (that is detuned)

Shot count on the short barrel shooting 18gr jsbs at 930 fps is right around 100-120. Too many for me to count or care. But it is a very efficient gun if tuned right

Got one in .25, w/ a 500 mm and 700mm barrel.

Shot count is around 75 shots, but it doesn't like the mk Ii's. 25.3 grain kings are the sweet spot for mine, mid 800's without port or valve work- for the 500mm.

700 mm barrel, you can pick up the speed, but you're just wasting air if trying to get more than the mid 800's from the 500mm.- without internal mods. I don't know what's possible, bit if you the skill or $$$$, I bet you could make an appreciatable difference.

Perfect compromise between a traditional stock and short barrel makes the 500 mm nice in the woods or field .

Barrel is stable without major poi shifts w either barrel, but impact is going to change when swapping barrels - just common sense really.

I like it, does a lot of things well, synthetic stock on mine for hard use .... .177 barrel as well for ratting. Not quite as dependably accurate for field target, but it shoots minute of a rat in .177.

Just spent the day turkey hunting, didn't take it, took a Vulcan, an Uragan, and a Lelya. ( If one goes down, I'm not going to lose the day)

So, I guess it's not my favorite, but I do like it alot.

Don't have the .25, got the .22 since I already had a .25 Crown.

Been tuning so my shot count isn't great right now, still going at it. It's right at 65 momentarily. I have the 380mm barrel putting out around 900 FPS with the regulator set at 135Bar.

Just installed a brand new 600mm barrel, the 700mm is just too long in my view, although it comes with the package. Backed off the regulator to 125Bar, set the air control knob to .177/.22 and am getting 980 FPS with the Hammer Spring adjusted to #5. The adjustable stock is a huge plus and the laminated looks great.

I had a local wrap place photograph and wrap my 380mm shroud to match the stock. It is my favorite hunting rifle to date.

.25 cal here. It puts a smile on my face every time I shoot it. Has preformed flawlessly for the first 6,000 rounds.

Stock - 380mm 25.4gr 850fps Max.
700mm 25.4 995fps. 34gr 900fps.

Ported TP and probe - 380mm 25.4gr 890fps Max.(definitely wasting air)

700mm 25.4gr 1040fps. 34gr 940fps

Stock reg pressure was 150bar. I put a slug liner in the 700mm. Factory pellet liner didn’t shoot MKII’s the best which in all fairness it wasn’t designed for but I had no interest in shooting 25.4’s out of it. I currently have a nice tune for both barrels at 140bar.

380mm shooting 25.4’s at 855fps and the 700mm going 895fps with the 34gr MKII’s both on PW4. On Max I have room to shoot the 34gr up to 920fps.

Shot count in .25 is around 60-85 depending on how it’s tuned. I haven’t checked with the current tune but with the reg now at 140bar I’m sure it’s getting all of that.

I shoot it setup with the 380mm most of the time. Very good accuracy with the 25.4’s from 835-865fps. This short barrel gives up some power but will shoot 1” - 1 1/4” groups at 100yds

At 95yds 4 of 5 were 7/8”. I’m more than pleased with groups like that. Makes for a great compact small game gun.
I’m really hoping it will shoot light weight slugs. Pellet wise with the 380mm you pretty much have 1, which is fine it’s shoots them great. Mine prefers the Air Arms “die” of the 25.4’s. Perfect because they’re the cheapest as well.

The 700mm is pretty long. The new barrel system is pretty rigid but I’ve bumped the long barrel pretty decent twice and both times I did need to re-zero a little. It also droops a little with the FX chrony hanging off of it. The 380 is pretty rock solid.
With that said I certainly wouldn’t let o-rings scare me away from the Impact. I’ve got a buddy with a gen1 that bangs around on the back of a 4 wheeler daily and the guns been a super reliable work horse for him.
I knew going in I was giving up some power to the Impact I chose the Crown strictly because of the traditional gun style. I’m just not a bullpup guy. For around the same size you can have a shoot anything 700mm Impact or a power limited 380mm Crown.

I haven’t even got into slugs yet. With the 700mm I think this platform is going to still be limited to lighter slugs. Once you start getting into 36gr+ I doubt it will push them much over 900fps. This is where the new PP Impact will shine.

Really depends what you plan to do with it. I like to shoot both barrels so my main concern was finding a happy tune for both. I’m sure you could tear into it change the hammer weight, larger valve seat and crank it up to 160bar to shoot heavy slugs but I doubt the 380mm will be real happy with that set up.

So far this gun has exceeded my expectations and covers all my PCP needs. My only gripe would be having the ability to adjust the hammer spring with the stock on.

I purchased a brand new one from the classifieds here, and love it, it's in 25 cal. I will leave the shorter barrel on it, as it's just great as it is for my needs. Never paid attention to the shot count, nor can I give an honest reply to accuracy since my basement only allows me 15 ft. to work with. But I can say i was very impressed with the sound of the pellets hitting my trap, it was definitely louder than some of my other 25s.

I have 3 Continuum and 2 standard Crowns, my plan was the .22 short barrel on the gun, with a standard Crown 600mm .30 cal barrel with the mod on it in the case, plus .30 probe (same length as the 700mm without mod).

To me the 700mm on the Crown looks ridiculous and with the mod you just bang it off every object you come near!

This way as Travis from AGD said, you can do everything with a .22 & a .30, the tune is set for the .30 with reg at 150 bar and hammer accordingly, but the same reg setting when dropping the hammer wheel and port size to 177/22 works really well with both the 25g RDs' and the 18g heavies, I have found no issues personally with .22 at 150 bar, therefore I suspect you will find it works just as well if not better with .25 the same way, especially if you stick with the 25g pellets in the short barrel.

Just looking to make up my own .30 600mm SUPERLITE barrel ATM, the rear end parts appear to be the same as those with the outer steel tube so should be prety easy to add the brass and steel pieces to the spare SUPERLITE nut I have from the longer barrel.

What I’m seeing is what I didn’t want to see is that the 700mm barrel is just to long. I do not see me using the 380mm barrel much. I just figured for any $100 I would get a extra barrel.
now the question is, is there any difference between the regular crown and the continuum other then the 2 barrels? I am looking at the specs and they both look the same now but the shot counts listed is very different. 70 in the crown .25 and 110 in the continuum.25?

In my situation, I am going to use the gun for the heavier pellets like the mk2s is what I am looking to get around 900 FPS and I am not interested in going to .30 cal. It looks like I can get to around that number with the 600mm barrel.

A few differences are; The barrel set up is lighter and is centered in the shroud with spiders instead of a liner housing. Another difference is that the barrel securing system now has four set screws on the side of the receiver instead of two set screws through the top necessitating scope removal for barrel removal/changing. The regulator is also adjustable up or down (check the serial number first, some don't) without removal of the bottle/pressure. Lastly there is an integral Picatinny rail instead of the 11mm/3/8" rail.

This looks promising, .25 would be my choice. My main use will be pesting and hunting all the way up to raccoon size game. I had my eye on the impact compact. So it seems the nod goes to the impact for more power if needed. Hopefully some more will chime in who has handle and shot both.

The numbers (at the same power level) are not correct, where did you see them? if you want to shoot the 34g .25 MKII Heavy JSB, then IMO the Crown with a 600mm slug liner is your best bet, unless you can find a .25 B pellet liner anywhere!

As I have said NUMEROUS TIMES, CONTINUUM, 2 BARRELS SYNTHETIC STOCK, PICATINNY RAIL, FITTED CASE, NOTHING ELSE, the hammers, hammer springs, regulators and everything else that could affect shot count or power are IDENTICAL!
