Thet screw in to the front of the action. What's that, 4" in front of the breech? They come in different lengths, with Male or female threads at the muzzle, carbon or black finish, with or without an LDC. I bought a DonnyFl Shogun LDC when I picked up my Crown. People told me to watch out for barrel droop and it was indeed a huge problem. I don't like having to extend the shroud either. So, I ordered one of these shrouds and an Anaconda LDC. Total weight is 4-5 oz.. lighter than the standard shroud and the Shogun LDC I was using.

Is the shroud locking on the threaded end of the barrel or is it locking against the breech? It's an interesting shroud but I don't want my barrel under tension of the shroud which pushes against the breech.

Yes it bottoms out on the threaded section, you remove the stripper etc. it won't pull the barrel out of the action if thats what you are asking?

So, my gunsmith has just got me a Walther match .177 barrel, he will make me up a new 600mm barrel with it next week while I wait, make a longer shroud from some carbon tube I got last week, I will put the new barrel in the Crown and then we will really see how good a smooth twist X is compared to a Walther! total cost should be about $200 including the Walther blank.

Looking forward to doing the test!

Two weeks isn't bad, they told me two weeks plus 5-7 days shipping to California. That's really not bad for shipping over seas especially to the BBC West coast. The price is reasonable too. I'm going with the shroud and the anaconda(I think). I ordered them on Thurs. but told Liam I wasn't sure which LDC I wanted yet. Do you have any experience with their LDC's? I was going to go with the Python but might want to spend the extra money on the Anaconda because of the removable baffles and added noise reduction. Most of their LDC's look pretty similar, there isn't much size difference between models. Like to hear what you have to say about them if you've used them. It would help me make my final decision on moderators. Thanks, Stoti

Correct, not telescopic anymore although they might be able to make it telescopic if you want. I hate having to extend my Crown's shroud, that's why I'm buying this, so I can add a lightweight LDC without barrel droop. The shroud and the 180mm Anaconda silencer only weigh about 8-9 ounces vs. 15 ounces for the stock shroud and the Shogun silencer I had on mine. They build everything to order, so they can probably do whatever you want. Go to their Facebook page and there is a great picture that shows 5-6 shrouds of different lengths, some threaded, some with short LDC's, some with long LDC's. Gives you a good idea of what you can get. Prices are very fair too. 2 week build time, 1 week shipping.

Thanks for the reply!

I’m not afraid of pulling the barrel out of the breech. What I noticed is that by tensioning the barrel the POI changes after each time you unscrew it and screw it back on after for example cleaning. This means resighting each time after cleaning or servicing because the tension is a little different each time. If it’s not tensioning the barrel you don’t have this problem. Therefore the question :)

It’s looks great by the way!
