FX Chrony support inspired by Ernest

I know that many of us have looked at ways to use our FX Chrony without hanging it from the barrel. On every rifle I’ve used it on, it shifts the POI down while it is hanging from the barrel. It isn’t a huge deal, but I do have to keep track of the amount of shift that it causes. I also shoot most of the time with it on, so it is only makes a difference when I decide to shoot without it, like hunting. I still love the Chrony!!

When I had an Impact, I used a mount another member created that connected to the bottle and held the mount out under the barrel, but that doesn’t work with my Saber Crown, as there isn’t room for it.

A while back, Ernest posted a pick and then a couple of videos on how he created a mount using a carbon fiber tube and a scope ring, and mounted it to the side of his Impact, this inspired me to try something similar with my Saber Crown. Thanks @sniperlabyo ! Here is his detailed instructions video if you are curious. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=q7zywq0TEd4

Because the Saber chassis has an ARCA rail with MLOK attachment opportunities, I looked around for something cheap that might work. I found a flashlight attachment (Feyachi mlok Offset Flashlight Ring Mount at Amazon) and ordered a Carbon Fiber tube on eBay of a matching size. It barely sticks out around the bottle and works great. I just went out to test and be sure the measurements come close to hanging off the barrel. I have found that depending on where it hangs on the barrel, your FPS can change 3-4 FPS and that is about the difference I saw with the mount. Luckily, no more POI shift!

I love this site. So many people willing to share ideas and help others out. You guys have helped me, so hopefully, this gives some others some good ideas to try.

I just set mine down under the barrel maybe 2-3" and it work's great. No fuss no muss

That works when I am stationary and pointed at one card. But I do like to leave it on at all times, so I can address all targets and never have to move the mount. I have spinners set up from 25-100 yards and have targets set up at 50 and sometimes 100, and this allows me to never worry about the Chrony. I don’t knock it off the table, shoot it, or and can still get a reading on every single shot.

I probably use it way more than I should. If I only used it when just tinkering, a small tripod under the barrel would be fine. At $35, I don’t have much in this and so that makes it even better.
