FX Chrony mount.

I’m loving my new FX Chrony but wanted a different mounting option. I used a tripod but hated all the repositioning when shooting different targets.

The barrel mount is fine if you just need numbers for tuning but if shooting groups it messed with POI and caused some slight droop. I also wonder if rubber bands and added weight could change the harmonics.

So this is what I came up with. Point where ever you want, easy on easy off, just floats out under the barrel. Tested it to night and as usual the readings on this thing are spot on.

This is food for thought. I just ran a series of strings with several pellets in my Crown to determine the most consistent for FT. I plan to use the data to create a holdover sheet. I zeroed while doing the test and didn’t think the weight if the radar would be enough to affect poi. I’ll have to go check my zero agin.

since the newer FX guns use liners in shrouds, would the radar actually affect the harmonics since it does not physically touch the liner?

I certainly claim no expertise in harmonics, I just like eliminating variables.
Over my years shooting “mostly springers” I’ve see just how drastic groups can change with a different hold or just touching the barrel in different spots. I think PCP’s are far less susceptible to this but It sure can’t hurt.

I only tried the FX barrel mount on my 700mm barrel but found it to be completely useless. It seemed to really affect POI and then when you take it off you have to recheck zero. The new “Superlite” system is pretty rigid but even a shift of a few .000’s is huge at 100yds.

Looks similar to a design that was out last year. Works pretty good. I like seeing the new designs. https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/fx-radar-new-bottle-mount-design/

@srtmat - That is great that you have been able to get the chrony to register properly that far from the end of the barrel. Mine only seems to read perfectly with that style mount when the chrony is right under the end of the barrel. It became an issue when I purchased a longer moderator, and couldn't get the chrony out far enough. If it isn't near the end, it will miss the occasional pellet and even throw some crazy numbers.

I put it on the rifle a couple weeks ago when I switched to a new moderator, and it wouldn't reach out to the end, but I went with it anyway to see how it would do. The readings were all over, but the shots were great. I had seen this before, so I removed it and switched to the normal rubber bands. Perfect.

The thing I do like about this style, for barrels with less support, is the ability to not shift the POI down when it is hanging on the barrel. I can keep my scope set the same for all times. Otherwise, when using the rubberbands, I just had to move the scope 0.4 mil.

That’s a nice setup? Where did you get that chrony Mount ?

I designed it and 3d printed it myself.

Can you share the 3D STL file?

I am still working on the design, there is always a room for improvements.

@Smok3y - This why I made it retractable, to fit different lengths.

I am also working on different type of clamps to fit different bottles and with different types of rails.

on my impact I have the long arca rail installed so I had to adapt the clamp to it.
