FX Chrony ETA EOM order yours now!

Yup, pricey, I’ll wait to they come down in price. $100-$125 is a fair price. The FX decal on the unit adds $100 to price tag?

Yep. Certainly not a mini LabRadar. The only thing measured is muzzle velocity from what I’ve read and from Giles review. They don’t do any more than those $30 ones on AliExpress that you have to shoot through, except you shoot over them. Great idea, but twice as much as they should be. Probably marked up in excess of 400%. Maybe I’m wrong. Shooters will buy them at $200. They should be $100, FX would still make a profit. Let’s not act like radar speed measurement is rocket science. Police have been using it for years to give you speeding tickets and sports (tennis, baseball, etc) for years to measure ball speed. I’ll wait till the price comes down... or I can buy one from China for $50.

My go to portable chrono is the Combro from England https://www.combro.com/ I got mine on eBay for about $50.

it’s hard to find but it’s small attaches to your muzzle with a rubber band. And the batteries seem to last forever. If all you want is the speed of the pellet leaving the barrel this is the one. I also have a lab radar which is the best when you need to collect data for tweaking.

Does this look familiar? Its been selling for quite some time now, made in China (like the FX version) of course. To me, the FX model seems to be this one tweaked to read higher velocities. Not sure if it was a software or hardware change, but it certainly looks like what the FX model is based on... $119.95 on Amazon. How long do you think it will take for this model to be modified and sold on eBay or AliExpress? My guess is less than 6 months...

FX (newly released) Similar? I'd say almost identical...

Carbon Doppler Radar Chronograph
The DR (Doppler Radar) Chronograph functions as a personal chrono. The device is bluetooth compatible and pairs easily to a personal smartphone/ tablet to measure the velocity of a projectile. Shots over the chrono are displayed on your Apple or Android phone/tablet screen thus taking out all of the extra costs associated with standard chronographs.

To Use: Turn The DR Chrono on by touching the On Button. Once chrono is on, open up the app on your smart device. Click "connect" when the device is found. For best results, place the product on a stable surface (ie. table or mount) and shoot over the top. Results will be shown directly on your smart device screen.

  • Durable nylon composition
  • Universal mounting system
  • Device runs on 3xAAA batteries (not included)
  • Download Application free by searching "DR Chronograph" in the App or Play Store

The strikethrough is mine. Unfortunately way overpriced since it is not even a stand alone unit. (Meaning it will not work without additional hardware (being a smartphone or a tablet))

But as all the sponsored pros (RMAC just springs to mind...) will be showing them in their YT vids to come, they’ll sell likeTupperware on a party in the seventies.

That’s capitalism working for you right there... ;-)

Unfortunately, this unit on Amazon does not read higher than around 530fps. I tested the bluetooth LE signal that the unit sends to the phone and it cuts off at around that 530fps velocity. I was hoping that the phone app (code) had the velocity limit built-in but it's the hardware design or the firmware of the unit itself. Not sure if the unit itself is designed to operate between a certain velocity envelope. If yes, would have to hardware-modify the high-bypass frequency. If not, maybe able to software-flash the unit to read upto higher bypass frequencies. I did not take mine apart before sent it back to Amazon, No doubt that the FX unit is a modified version of this Chinese one.
