Fx Boss 30 cal shots per fill

"Scalf"According to your results i am about 9 or 10 shots short. What would cause that? Why am i wasting air.
You did something with the hammer spring, that might be. I don't have any experience, so I don't ever mess with mine :). How is the accuracy? I will tune or chance if mine don't shoot accurated. You can ask the place you got the gun from, or Mr. Ernest Rowe to see what happened. I hope someone can help you resolve the problem.

It is most likely the maxed out HST what is causing this.

NEVER max out the HST on any FX Royale/Boss without measuring the speed very carefully with a chrony.
First thing, now your fps will likely be lower than it would when you back out the HST adjuster screw a bit, plus the air consumption is horrible. There is also a chance you might damage the valve guide hole in the action, causing the valve to get stuck and stay open while dumping all air.

If you go too far by turing in the HST screw on a Boss/regulated Royale, the speed will decrease after a certain point (found this out accidentally while chronying mine)

What I should suggest is readjust the HST with help of a chrony, but start at the lowest possible HST.
Work the speed up gradually, and keep monitoring the speed.
Stop at the point where the speed is at it's highest point, and leave it there. You might play around at that point to get the lowest possible ES, but keep in mind that this is a very delicate adjustment.

My Boss got a little bit over 40 shots over a full fill from 250 down to 160 bar. My speed was 265m/s with JSB 44's

I did adjust the hammer spring like you said but got 27 shots. I am going to reduce speed to 860 and then 845-850 and see what i get. After i get my RAW HM 1000X back from Alan Z i might send the FX to someone for an inspection and tune. It should get 885 or so with about 40 shots according to FX. I have no idea why other people are getting 36 to 40 shots. It seem as if it is a little loud also but i haven't heard any other 30 cal airguns. The decibel meter on my phone said it was 75 decibels but i don't know if that is even close. It is a lot louder than my FX 500 and it is goining 905 with 25.39 pellets. I did slow the Boss down to 775 and it was very quite. As quite as the 500. I suppose if it is wasting air it would be louder than normal.Right? Where is Earnest located? How about David Slade in Minor Hill, anyone with information about either?

Loud means that it is waisting air (valve stays open too long) :) Not to have any doubts about your technical skills, but are you 100% sure that you started setting it up with the HST adjuster flush with the action?
Can't do any harm to start all over and try to setup it again :) FX's can be a pain to set up sometimes. Good luck, I'm curious to whatever is causing this phenomenon.

Ok. Turned HS out 11/4 turns. Ran 13 over chronograph for 875fps average. Filled to 245 bar, running out of air. Shot 36, i lost count but it was at least 36 and the last shot was 873. It may have been 39 but not sure. Either way it is ok where it is at. I don't think it got any quieter but i don't have any thing to compare it too. Thanks for the response. I suppose i had the HS too far in.

I agree with most everything you have been posting here to help, but I am confused by the statement of FX's being a pain to set up sometimes. In my 54 years of air gun shooting, I have never encountered air rifles that are easier to setup and adjust than FX and I own four of them. My FX Boss sees 41 to42 shots per fill before falling off the reg. This is with filling the rifle to 250 Bar and shooing the 44gr JSB's. Do you know how much setup I put into my Boss? I fill it with air and shoot. I know everyone's experience can vary, but this is mine.

What I actually meant to say is that it is easy to get lost because of the free floating hammer, which is gonna act weird if you turn it in too far. (lower FPS, higher ES etc.)
I learned the hard way myself, as I was just starting with FX PCP's an a tendency to get a little "hammerspring happy", I was surprised to see how the gun can act ;)
I live in Belgium, so English is not my native language :) It can sometimes be a bit difficult to express what I exactly mean.

@Scalf, good to hear you've got it solved :)
