FX Bobcat MkII .30 700MM Stx

Alright guys, I thought I would share some info with you all. Being the tinkerer that I am, my mind never stops. Since the release of the 700mm x barrel, the wheels have been turning. At the first of the week, I purchased the new 700mm x barrel from Palm Beach Airguns( go check them out by the way, real nice guys). The barrel was shipped out next day and was at my door step by Thursday afternoon. Immediately when I returned home from work, the process began. I carefully disassembled the gun and began measuring, the barrels were very close but not a direct drop in. With a heat gun, a slowly and carefully heated the brass transfer port to loosen up the factory installed Loctite. After heating, the transfer ports were carefully removed from each barrel. I then installed my factory transfer port from my bobcat on to the new barrel. I then machined down the barrel just a tad so that it could be installed into the gun( the 700mm diameter was roughly .553 and the original st .537. After machining the barrel was inserted and the transfer port was lined up. I then installed the set screws and began reassembling the gun. I’ve still yet to make the shroud exactly how I want it but is functional for now. This morning I was able to obtain some chrony results and shot group. This project is not complete, but... from the results that I gathered this morning this is “ One Bad Cat”. I hope you guys find this informative!Created: 22/09/18 11:07 AM

I was able to finish the shroud on the bobcat, it turned out quiet nicely I think. I was also able to do a few more groups. I think the 700mm on the bobcat is a real winner and as of now I’m very pleased with the results. The 1st picture is the gun with the completed shroud. 2nd picture is a full magazine at 50yds with jsb 44.75 with one shot that I know I pulled. The 3rd picture is with the jsb 50’s 6 shot group at 100yds. And last but not least the 44.75’s at 100yds 6 shot group.

Centercut, Before I purchased the bobcat, I was looking for a 100fpe gun. All of the dealers that I spoke with told me that I there was no way I would get 100fpe out of this gun , so they recommended a Daystate wolverine. The only thing that done, was make me want to prove to myself and others that anything is possible . So the fun began. I honestly believe there is a gain in accuracy when switching from the standard st barrel. Not only is the barrel 4in longer, it also has the twist the complete length of the barrel which I believe helps with pellet stabilization . Don’t get me wrong, the standard st shot very well. But , if I were to be able to achieve the same amount of power from the standard barrel I think the pellet would become unstable. Now, shot count. With the tuning I have on my gun I can get 20 full power shots before dropping off of the regulator which isn’t bad In my opinion. I know some guys would not be pleased, but I have my own fill source so the extra power is more important to me. According to Fx, when using a 700mm barrel one could achieve 10% more power over the standard 600, I found this to be true. That being said, In theory If you had your regulator set at say 150bar and we’re producing 83fpe for approximately 30 shots, you could install the 700mm barrel and tune your regulator down to 130bar and still obtain 83 fpe. While increasing your shot count even more, maybe even another 10shots.

Hey and thank you. I’m still very impressed with it every time I shoot it. Now, the transfer port from your old barrel will have to be removed and installed onto the new stx barrel. They are threaded and Loctited on so with a little heat the transfer port can be removed. Be very careful with the port as it is brass. Good luck and let me know how it turns out!
