Fx Bobcat .30 at 600 yards with NSA 65gn

When I bought this particular "alternative carbine" (yes, that's right...it was never a "bullpup" to me) I was looking for a reliable platform in .30 cal and at the time my other options were quite limited...

- The Fx Boss was a fine rifle, enough power and good shot count but I didn't like it's length (nor the fact it was a bottle gun)

-The Daystate Wolverine was even more powerful but had very limited shot count.

-The Fx Impact was still on the design table

And then...I saw it clearly!

The Bobcat had it all: Short, powerful, with 40 regulated shots and above all...VERY reliable (the Mk2 had a lot of improvements compared to the Mk1 model).

It's only sin was that it was marketed as a "bullpup" and of course (as such) it received a lot of negative reviews/complains for it was longer, bulkier, heavier (and the list goes on and on) than the other pups.

I was so excited! I had found my rifle! (A couple of months later I bought it and at a discounted price due to the above criticism and to the fact that the Fx Impact Mk1 was announced in production)

It's only flaw was that it could shoot only Jsb's.

Well...until now that is!

I must be a little slow today, but I don’t get it. Are you trying to show how far the gun will shoot with slugs? All I saw was shooting into the water. Not that you could hit an actual target at that range smaller than the side of a barn. ;) Your arc is approx 126 feet at that range and speed. Very much like lobbing a mortar round. Even if you increased speed by 200 FPS to 1000 FPS you’d reduce the arc to a nice flat 87 feet...

We all entertain ourselves, it doesn't have to serve any other purpose... kind of like fireworks.

What you just saw is a part of a rudimentary test of the precision (NOT the accuracy) of those slugs at some very long distance.

It gave replies to some question marks I had about my newly installed barrel, but most of all it gave me...pleasure!!!

Although I agree with you that at those ranges there is no practical use for any airgun...not everyone got into airgunning for the same reasons...

p.s. Not that it matters much, but thοse 2 shots touched the water at 50-60 cm appart.Don't ask how I know (or ask me to prove it) 😂

I am very glad some people enjoy the trip as much as I do brother 😏

I was thinking the same thing CC but didn’t want to say anything that made me sound rude and rain on Avra’s parade. Don’t get me wrong Avra, I think it’s cool and like shooting long distance with slugs too. At that distance and not having a target to judge the size of the spread, it is really hard to see what’s going on. I am totally interested in the results though...Maybe if you put a 4’x4’ target on the rocks or something, shot it and then got the target and showed us the results up close we would have a little more perspective on what’s happening. Did you spend much time trying to tune the gun for the 44.75 grain slugs? If you could make the improvements that Derrick and Mike suggested and then tuned it for the lighter slugs at a much flatter trajectory, I think you’d really like the results! It would be a flat shooting beast!

Keep us updated, I’d love to hear how this turns out for you. Merry Christmas!
