FX Airguns announces the new FX Hybrid Slug

Airguns are rapidly evolving. What a modern PCP airgun can do currently is simply staggering. These last few years; the technology, efficiency, and abilities of airguns have exponentially increased. The modern shooter needs innovative ammo that can shoot longer and still retain high precision accuracy.

The standard diabolo pellet shape helps maximize accuracy in airgun barrels due to their low bearing surface and ability to shape itself to the barrel. But the pellet has limitations in the stabilizing drag of the pellet shape results in a quick loss of energy as well as being easily moved the wind. Pellets simply cannot maximize the potential of the modern PCP airgun.

Many have turned to swaged slugs with their much better ballistic coefficients (BC), but they have their problems as well: the surface area and weight of the standard slug demands extreme amounts of pressure from the airgun. Their accuracy is also more temperamental and demand an unforgiving perfect fit with the airgun barrel.

To solve these issues FX presents a new Hybrid Slug that is a perfect blend of the pellet and slug. It has a higher ballistic coefficient, is lighter in weight, and can be shot out of most PCPs with massive expansion.

The FX Hybrid Slug will revolutionize what an airgun can do. The Hybrid benefits form the external dimensions of a high BC slug of much heavier weight but has a completely hollow core and deep recessed base, making it light enough to be shot with extreme accuracy. Its unique shape and extreme low weight, combined with an optimal bearing surface, allow for velocities and trajectories that are unparalleled by any other slug or pellet.

The key to their shape and high ballistic coefficient is a unique patented three step process using the latest bullet making technology. These high-speed presses are run by professionals in the firearm bullet industry that are world renown for the quality and consistency. The Hybrids to be made at over 100 rounds per but yet you’ll find that every single Hybrid in a sleeve of 100 will be within a 10th of a grain of each other (with most of them being exactly the same!). The reality is that most scales won’t be able to measure the difference, they’re simply that exact.

These Hybrid Slugs are designed with all PCP airguns in mind but are specifically tailored to the FX Smooth Twist X (STX) barrels. In fact, with the first Hybrid that is being released, the .22 caliber 22 grain Hybrid, you don’t even need the FX STX Slug Liners that have been created for other standard swaged slugs. Instead you can shoot them out of your standard pellet liner leaving your FX rifle ready to shoot standard pellets as well!

Initial offering from FX Hybrid Slugs will be a .22 caliber offering (in stores now) with a .25 caliber Hybrid soon to follow. The 22 grain .22 Hybrid has resulted in an average G1 BC of 0.080.

The Hybrid Slugs are being made in the USA and will initially be available from FX dealers within the US. Exporting to other countries is being worked on. Other weights and calibers will arrive in 2020 from FX Airguns to tailor to the length of barrel, hunting application, and your specific shooting style.

With the FX Hybrid you get a flatter trajectory with less wind drift, more retained energy, and much more accuracy at longer distances than any pellet; all with massive expansion for hunting. This unique patented design is unleashing the possibilities of both distance and the accuracy you can achieve with an airgun. Didn’t think you could get more excited about airguns? Try an FX Hybrid Slug!

They look like they would perform well and look like the Rat Snipers I got hold of once and I might try a box for fun as the Rat Sniper slugs were very accurate and expanded better than anything I had ever shot. Still they cost three to four times what the NSA's cost so not likely I will be feeding my gun a steady diet of them maybe just use them for special occasions. Thanks NSA for keeping the costs down. Well OK thanks FX for the cool slugs too.

Yes you need slug liner for Neilson. These appear to expand and seal close to the barrel like diabolo. Should be absolutely awsome. However that price is prohibitedly high. I will get a box every once in awhile and use it for hunting purposes but the whole point of airguns for me is to shoot cheap. These guys are on the cutting edge tho I'm sure prices will drop after they pay for all the retooling and labor I'm positive they had to spend. Right on I say!

Yes a slug liner for Neilson but not for the hybrid slug.
